I was in English and all three of my friends in that class told me they've never seen any of the Lord of the Rings. I moved my chair away from them for the rest of the period.
I have, the quote just seemed out of place to be joking. Same to the other person who quoted me.Hobonicus said:This is pretty funny, I take it you also haven't seen The Princess Bride or heard it quoted before?Numachuka said:in·con·ceiv·a·ble AdjectiveLionsfan1986 said:You keep using thatYou keep using this word! because it a freaking classic, and its one of those movies that people will still sometimes reference, and it was the first color movie, thats got to be worth somethingYoungZer0 said:Instead of saying "I have no desire watching it" you could state your reason.LadyMint said:I have never seen Fight Club and have no real desire to. Pulp Fiction, yes I've seen that, but I don't find it interesting at all. It was "great" at one point, back when I was a teenager and giggled at things I didn't understand, but now that I've gotten older I find I don't like a lot of Tarantino's works. That's just how it goes, though.
To Topic: I only watched Pulp Fiction twice, i really didn't see what the fuzz was about it. The dialogs were funny, but overall i didn't find the characters or the plot that interesting.
I totally gasp when people tell me they haven't seen The Dark Knight.
That movie is old as fuck. Why would you want to watch it?MrShadowzs said:I have a friend who has never seen the Wizard of Oz, SERIOUSLY IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE
I still haven't seen The Godfather movies. There's a few others that are already canonized as CLASSIC but I can't think of them right now. A lot of Scorcese's stuff, come to thing of it. I've seen Taxi Driver, (most of) Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Bringing Out the Dead (SO underrated) Gangs of New York and The Departed. I haven't seen any of his Mob films save for Goodfellas.Arqus_Zed said:So...
I recently got in a conversation with a newly acquainted friend of mine. A discussion that gradually transferred from video games to movies.
I made a reference to a Tyler Durden quote, but he didn't seem to get it. He had never seen Fight Club. Huh... I tried bringing up Old Boy, but he hadn't even heard of that movie. Fair enough, I suppose. But when I brought up Pulp Fiction, he hadn't even the slightest idea what the movie was about - not even a quote!
And thus: personal DVD-collection to the rescue! Now while I think Fight Club is a movie every (wo)man should see at least once in his/her life, I decided to hook him up with Pulp Fiction first. And guess what? He hated it! He actually called it flat-out boring and uninteresting!
Now, my question to you: have you ever met a man so void of modern cultural knowledge you just couldn't believe it?
(I mean, in the end, the fact that he hadn't seen the movies still baffled me more than the fact he thought Pulp Fiction sucked. In the end, people still have the right to have their own opinions, even if they don't make sense...)
Oh, and not surprisingly, he had also never seen A Clockwork Orange or The Godfather - though I've experienced more than once in my life, that there are more people who simply quote the movies instead of actually seeing them.
Well, good.Monicro said:Some movies just don't click bro, it doesn't mean they're void of cultural knowledge like you say it. I didn't care for Raging Bull for example.Arqus_Zed said:I decided to hook him up with Pulp Fiction first. And guess what? He hated it! He actually called it flat-out boring and uninteresting!

You MUST be trolling.CarlMinez said:Fight Club and Pulp Fiction are both simplistic, braindead action films. I don?t see why anyone would want to include these on a list of classic must-see movies.
Hey now, I haven't seen it either. Then again, I hail from the frigid north, where nobody else has either, and the thing really doesn't have much cultural meaning.MrShadowzs said:I have a friend who has never seen the Wizard of Oz, SERIOUSLY IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE
So, who's Kobe Bryant?Haydyn said:I have a friend who doesn't know a lot of things that are commonplace. We asked him about 50 different questions and he only heard of The Beatles, Michael Jackson, ACDC, and a few others. Didn't even know who Kobe Bryant is. I envy not knowing who he is.
