They won't see Airplane!?(I guess that should be read as a question)I say you should knock some sense into them.VaudevillianVeteran said:![]()
"You ain't seen Bad Boys II?"
The first thing that came to my mind, really.
OT: A friend of mine refuses to watch any 'cult classic' films. This includes The Matrix, Airplane!, Wizard of Oz for some bizarre reason, any of the Star Wars films, Fight Club and the list goes on. I can't help but wonder why...
I'll be honest, I think a part of me died when they told me. I mean surely they can't be serious?!superbatranger said:They won't see Airplane!?(I guess that should be read as a question)I say you should knock some sense into them.
I just don't understand how they could be doing that intentionally. It...frightens me.VaudevillianVeteran said:I'll be honest, I think a part of me died when they told me. ...
I mean if they'd responded with "I am serious and don't call me Shirley" there could've been some compromise!
He is a poor, angry man.superbatranger said:I just don't understand how they could be doing that intentionally. It...frightens me.
I would suggest abducting him and making him watch it, but...that might be viewed as a bit on the extreme side.VaudevillianVeteran said:He is a poor, angry man.superbatranger said:I just don't understand how they could be doing that intentionally. It...frightens me.
Because it's outdated. Just because it's a classic doesn't mean it's timeless.Farson89 said:So... because a movie is old it is automatically unwatchable?YoungZer0 said:That movie is old as fuck. Why would you want to watch it?

Now, that is actually my opinion. I never really liked Fight Club for example. And I don't see why anyone would. Too the best of my knowledge, the movie has gotten a pretty mediocre critical reception. (no offense)Arqus_Zed said:You MUST be trolling.CarlMinez said:Fight Club and Pulp Fiction are both simplistic, braindead action films. I don?t see why anyone would want to include these on a list of classic must-see movies.
Not everything has to be a 'The Seventh Seal' or 'Citizen Kane' to be a cult movie you know. (although it wouldn't hurt to go and see them...)
Having no desire to watch a movie should be reason enough in this case. Unless you have a reason for wanting me to go deeper than that. In which case, the only thing I can come up with is "It's not on my list of movies to see before I die." Which still equates to having no desire to see it.YoungZer0 said:Instead of saying "I have no desire watching it" you could state your reason.
What the fuck is "Old Boy"? And I haven't seen seen Pulp Fiction, Clockwork Orange, or Godfather, either.Arqus_Zed said:So...
I recently got in a conversation with a newly acquainted friend of mine. A discussion that gradually transferred from video games to movies.
I made a reference to a Tyler Durden quote, but he didn't seem to get it. He had never seen Fight Club. Huh... I tried bringing up Old Boy, but he hadn't even heard of that movie. Fair enough, I suppose. But when I brought up Pulp Fiction, he hadn't even the slightest idea what the movie was about - not even a quote!
And thus: personal DVD-collection to the rescue! Now while I think Fight Club is a movie every (wo)man should see at least once in his/her life, I decided to hook him up with Pulp Fiction first. And guess what? He hated it! He actually called it flat-out boring and uninteresting!
Now, my question to you: have you ever met a man so void of modern cultural knowledge you just couldn't believe it?
(I mean, in the end, the fact that he hadn't seen the movies still baffled me more than the fact he thought Pulp Fiction sucked. In the end, people still have the right to have their own opinions, even if they don't make sense...)
Oh, and not surprisingly, he had also never seen A Clockwork Orange or The Godfather - though I've experienced more than once in my life, that there are more people who simply quote the movies instead of actually seeing them.
I'm kinda like your friend. I don't watch every "Excellent" movie ever, would you believe that I hated Team America? I've never seen Pulp Fiction eitherArqus_Zed said:So...
