I haven't bought Bioshock 2 because I figured that it would be almost exactly like the first but with a shit story that ruins the original. Good to see that Yahtzee agreed with me there, I'll probably still give it a rental though out of respect for Bioshock 1.

Wait, Yahtzee said that he was live and let live with the Big Daddies aside from the main required one, but there is an entire level dedicated to the harvest and rescue option. That's all I can say about this review that was just plain confusing.

The first ten seconds of the review got me really excited, but you dashed my hopes with your mocking laughter. As bad as is sounded, I sorta want to play to see the expanded environments and gameplay.

I know it is far to late to make a difference for your Extra Punctuation this week, however, most of the people who commented have missed a point. For all that screamed that the Big Sisters only come after you save/murder the last little sister, they failed to notice the game NEVER tells you this. Not in the hints, not in any audio diary, no where. If my memory serves, 2K said it would be RANDOM, never mentioning that it was a predictable event. So they lied. If they mentioned that, many players would of avoided a Giant Needle "surprise", being able to prepare before dropping of that last sister, and saved you a headache from your annoying fans Yahtzee.

he totally forgot to talk about multiplayer inn this game!
I think the multiplayer was the best part of this game, cuz the story was, meh-.-
i think in borderlands he had something to say about pattern recognition. and the multiplayer was basic. the story was pretty good if you look for the audio tapes
didn`t know that thanx^^

Even with the audio tapes i still think the story was...meh-.-
Shure it may have given sum insight on how everthing happend and such, but i rather have a good story served to you while playing, then having to go to look for one;-)

Hahaha, was that on purpose? When Yahtzee says "You defend the little sister from waves of splicers", "Splicers" is said with the same accent Atlas used in Bioshock.

Should have watched this before I wasted money on Bioshock 2... I also wasted some cash on L4D2. I really should start paying attention to what I'm buying.

which there is no problem with. its not for everyone and you have to have alot of free time and very little will to live to do that in all your games...i should point out that iv read all the articles in the first 3 res evil games

If I had seen this review a few weeks ago, I would have been pissed beyond belief. I had been so psyched for this game- I was reading every article, watching every video I could find about it, bitching at my friend for being able to preorder it when I couldn't. Then it came out, and I started reading reviews about how it wasn't the perfect golden game I had expected- how it was...well, a knock-off piece of shit. My friend gave me a call and told me how disappointed she was, how it wasn't what SHE had expected either...I haven't had the opportunity to hold a controller in my hands and play the game for myself, but I have to agree with Yahtzee, it's definitely not what we were promised.

And all this is just tainting my excitement for Portal 2. I'm feeling that same incredible fangirly gush that I got from the announcement of Bioshock 2, but I have to remember that it won't be nearly as good as I'm expecting it to be. In fact, all these new elements they're throwing in, as well as falling back on the memetic mutation of Still Alive has me a little worried...

It's funny, during the first part where he made it sound that Bioshock 2 was better than the first I was saying to myself: Bulls*** Bulls*** Bulls***. Than when he said it wasn't I said: Bulls*** Bulls*** Bulls***.

I just really like the game, although I agree it wasn't as good as the first.

In my opinion Bioshock 2 is not a bad game at all but it lacks the same sense of awe and and wonder that the first game provided. Yahtzee is right in his criticism of the story and it's contrivance in attempting to tie into that of the first game, but he ignores the fact that the game actually plays rather well. It feels like a more streamlined and somehow perhaps a little less linear experience to me (and the linear nature of the first game is the one thing that eventually put me off it; to the point that I got bored before the end).

I believe its called pattern recognition. After the second time a big sister explicitly came for me after dropping off the last little sister my brain told me "Hey! I bet she always comes after the last little sister is dropped off!"

For a long time in the past games required you understood pattern recognition. Understanding the nature of the game and learning when who is going to do what. I mean do you need the game to tell you everything about it.

Have every boss just have a pop up that says, "Use gun X on area Y"

Honestly if you can't handle that little amount of thought needed to guess if the first two times you dropped off the last little sister a big sister appeared they always came after the last well... Stay the hell away from older games. Older games like the original metroids and zelda's will likely piss you off when everything isn't laid out in front of you and it takes some figuring out.

Ironically enough, I would purchase, play, and enjoy a BioShock game where you played as the vending machine. (Though not for any reasons you're supposed to purchase, play, and enjoy BioShock games.)

When the developers say that one game mechanic is how it is, one hopes they can believe them. 2K said that the Big Sister fights were random, and in game they were not. It is like MGS 2 all over again. If a developer lies about their final product, any problems or confusions should be blamed on them.

I thought that quick time events in Saint's Row 1 were better than the tagging system in Saint's Row 2. I'll still get this game for the achievements, but overall I doubt I'll like it as much as Bioshock.

Actually, playing as a Vending Machine in Bioshock 3 would be kinda fun. Some nitwit tries to hack you? Fill the Pipe Dream board with Alarm panels or make everything red. Why not constantly cause alarms and flood Rapture under a wave of flying deathbots?
