Dear Yahtzee, nice reporting. I didn't even see much in the way of jokes because your usual take utilizing absurdity breaks down in the face of the industry's idiocy with 'three ddd' and movement controls.
I agree completely with what you said in this installment, sad to say. I mean for all of our sakes I'm sad. When this much sweat and treasure is plowed into something so lame we all suffer for the lack of it being applied to things we all could use and enjoy.
Like games that are clever and creative and fun to play.
Or we can all just wave our arms around like there is a bee in our living room.

I think that 3D games could be very immersive. Imagine if you are in the middle of a battle and bullets and grenades and all types of projectiles are flying past your ears, and really see the depth of a game. I think 3D gaming could be one of the most immersive ideas ever.

You have to be joking. They have yet to invent the 3D that has things zipping past your ears. Things that go off screen still go off screen, meaning you can't see them. And I doubt that such a jump in technology will exist in a handheld gaming device first. What you're describing is that sort of Star Trek holographic thing that Yahtzee said to wake him when is real.

3D IS a gimmick, and even worse most things that make use of it do it poorly, shoehorning in images of things being pointed at the screen that practically yells "LOOK AT THIS HO HO HOOO!"

I played Team Fortress 2 in 3D and made even more immersive and fun to me. I guess it's all about personal opinion.

This is becoming tiresome. Microsoft, Sony, do you wish to know why you are having difficulty in the market with sale figures? It is because the majority of the games you have released a complete garbage. No, it is not the motion idiocy you have attempted to impose upon us gamers. Honestly, with only a handful of games being released that have a fragment of appeal, you wonder the competency of gaming company when this are baffled we would rather play "old relics" for the unteeth time then be forced to endure their trash.

Here is a thought, why not attempt to develop video games like you use to . You know, the ones we all still prefer playing. I have no interest in patting some imaginary cat, I have two perfectly real ones I could saunter over and pat to my leisure. In addition, no I do feel the desire to flail about as though a bee flew into my trousers whilst I had a seizure. I want to play games with a regular controller and enjoy them. If this means replaying Final Fantasy X for the zillionth time, hooray...

So many brilliant one-liners to mine out of this one for months...especially agree on the Kinect...when motion controllers...or the lack of any...can appeal to serious gamers, perhaps we shall take them seriously. Until then, it's nothing but a trend on life support for the noncommittal nobheads who can't sit down and learn some fucking controller layouts.

Also suprised he didn't rip into Deus Ex 3 considering it appears to be a fave of his and its now being resurrected by Square Enix and being a cynical bastard I expect it to be ruined.

Square Enix is only doing the cinematics and publishing...Eidos is in charge of actual game development. Seems like the best of both worlds to me.

Give it a year or two and we'll be back to forgetting they ever existed! I see 3D sticking around becoming more prevalent though. Once the technology becomes cheaper I'm sure every game and it's mom will be 3D. Soon Peggle Extreme will REALLY be EXTREEEEEEEEEME flying in your face!

Why didn't he cover any of the games you say? Because most of the games at this year's E3 were pretty negligible. Most people seem to be shitting themselves over Nintendo's lineup, but I'm with Yahtzee: all they can EVER do is rehash old franchises. How about something actually NEW for once? They are only surviving by appealing to the nostalgia of aging gamers. What happens when the new generation of kiddies comes along who don't have any fond memories of Kid Icarus?
What else were the big titles? Oh, I know, all series reboots (mortal kombat) or sequels (Dead Space 2).
Yeah some of them look pretty cool but I'm finding it hard to become excited about the same old thing with nicer graphics.

We really really really don't need anything more to the controllers! Playstation1 controller was high enough in tech when it came. Actually NES controller was good enough. (Anything more is useless, untill they develope some mind control or whatnot.) Games > Controllers. One can not make games better with more complicated controllers.

I'm going to try to clear this up for you people who seem to be unable to grasp the concept:
the issue isn't one of criticism. Criticism is fine. The issue is that many, many people here are insulting rather than criticizing, and then trying to claim that their 'opinion' is somehow legitimate.

Look, somebody a few pages back said he HATES Rebecca Mayes. He thinks she isn't that creative, saying that her lyrics are weak, and her choruses are both redundant and grating as examples of why he doesn't like her music.

I'm fine with that. I don't agree, but that's just me.

Now, to me, that's more of an opinion than a criticism, since it doesn't actually mention any specifics-- but still, this is an open forum, and people are entitled to their opinion, so I'm cool with it.

But the tone of those comments are unfortunately the exceptions, not the rule. I have seen far more people say stuff like "oh my God; that woman is a talentless *****" or
calling her "an opinionated whore".

In Logic, it's called argumentum ad hominem, but I prefer to call it being an immature asshole. There is no justification for it; it simply is a person being insulting and degrading to another person because they enjoy the anonymity of the Internet and can be as rude and unpleasant as they wish without any repercussions. The only way to redress their actions is to confront them, which is what some of us are doing.

So NO, it's not about everybody being shiny, happy people and saying only nice things about everything. It's about maintaining a level of civility and reason in the subjects we discuss. Why is this important? Because if everyone is not held to this standard, every single dispute will devolve into name-calling, which gets tedious very rapidly. Every. Single. One.

So yeah, if you have a problem with me taking people to task about being immature and insulting, you'd better just put me on ignore right now, because I'm not going to stop.

i have in truth done a lot for her, ive had to show everyone i know how bad the song is, and these are people with no vested interest in defending yahtzee unlike me, regardless, ive uped her viewer rating by like at least 10 or so. probably others who dislike it had done the same.
