I really enjoyed each title in the the FEAR franchise, but i have to admit after the first two Games i already knew when and where i was going to be "shocked". The other problem is, even if they would have picked up a different approach to be scary, i am already accustomed to whatever Alma could spit out, therefor for anyone who played the first two Games... you will not see horror as horror.

I found the sinlge player mode pretty decent and yes the robot with K Cereal amount of HP wasn´t too easy, but i found myself stuck at the room with the two (going through walls) commanders. Aside from that, after playing through with both brothers, i found myself going back for awesome kills... slow-mo kills... he he...

I have played through FEAR 3, but I don't remember any robot with a milion hit-points.
Could someone be kind and specify on what level you meet it?

Only thing I found to be a good challange was at level 7, I think, when you meet two wall phasing commandos at the same time. But I don't remember any robots that you fight outside of a mechsuit.

Enjoyed the single player. Haven't tried it coop, guess I'll have to. The original FEAR is my favorite in the series, but this was well done. None of them "scared" me but the first kept the tension on better.

Story made sense to me, but then I've played the first two games and understand them. The only thing that didn't make sense to me was the time gap between F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R 3 (9 months?! What the hell has everyone been doing for 9 months while the world goes to Hell? And why is Jin still there after 9 months?) and why the Point Man allowed Fettel to do that to Becket. That made my friends and I very angry.

Good eye on the box art of Alma, Yahtzee. I totally missed that. I'll have to go put the three games next to each other and look at them like that. Wonder what F.E.A.R 4's box art will look like.

Whoah whoah whoah, Yahtzee actually posts threads to announce his new videos!?

Does he ever reply to anything, or does he just bugger off to go be hilarious other places? -Hunkers down and waits-
As far as I know, Yahtzee doesn't communicate with the people who watch his videos, as he likes to compare us to bleating sheep. He much prefers to post his hilarious videos, and then shamble off to the Mana Bar.

If you look at his post history, it's merely all of him uploading his own videos.

OT: Quite a good review. I've never played any FEAR game in my life, but this killed a good 6 minutes, and that's all I could ever ask for in a Zero Punctuation review. Good work, Yahtzee.

He's talking about the one you fight in the airport where you're in a mech suit too. Just before reaching Becket. You're not alone, because I had no problems with it either. I just kept the crates between me and the mech and kept running a circle. Took a while, but I never died.

i actually like the fear games (besides XP and PM). yes, the scary moments are all gone but at least its a solid shooter.
dint had any problems with the robot he was talking about (SP), and i played it on medium. just ran around in circles and it was gone.
coop is fun too but i would not say that the SP is shit. i dint expect a master piece but as i said before, it is a solid shooter. with some horror elements. alma looked actually freaky with her orange eyes.

I could be wrong but I thought he meant that one stage where youre on foot on interval 5 where you fight that mech that shoots missiles and lasers and eats away at the available covers. THAT was the hardest part for me.

Running through backyards you reach a backyard with a gazebo in the middle which gets blown up.

There are so many propane tanks you can throw at him so with Fettel, it is super easy. Without Fettel I would imagine it would be really hard.

The robots that rapid-fired rockets in FEAR 1 weren't that bad, all I had to do was slo-mo out of cover, fire a few railgun shots, and duck back into cover. What about the one in 3 makes it so hard? Lack of cover?

Much like it's movie counterpart, "Scre-Four-m", the "FEAR" franchise is tired. One of the follies of putting all your brilliant story ideas in the first of the series, really, all we got going now is ad-libbed storylines that pretends to have some kind of coherence and connectivity with their predecessor.

But hey, who plays FPS for the stories, right? So long as you can blow shit up, who cares if the story is shit? (sarcasm; don't get your panties in a bunch)

Hmm... THI4F...You're right, Croshaw, that does not make sense at all.
If anything, if you're gonna put a number 4 in THIEF, you should:

1) make the 4 larger so you can substitute it for either the T or the I; or...

2) use a backwards 4 for the F.

Anyway, what happened to the Escapist thread where its TC was none too happy to see FEAR 3 appear as F3AR? (And if that guy is reading this, I guess I have to apologize to him for pointing out DRIV3R. Sorry about that, dood.)

By the way..... does this mean Yahtzee calls Ke$ha "Ke-Dollar-Sign-Ha"?

FPSs can be scary. It's easy to dissociate yourself from the action when you can see you character but, Oblivion stylee, I find the first person perspective much more emersive. The POV (try not to get side tracked thinking of porn) in Metro 2033 made some of the more claustrophobic areas more unnerving. Condemned was shit your pants scary as was Amnesia: TDD.

Anywho - funny review as always Crowshaw.

I too hate the 'replacing letters with numbers' fad, practice, thing, whatever you want to call it. However 'Se7en' is excusable from a marketing standpoint because the film is all about the seven deadly sins. Though I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that, though I just did so deal with it.
