finally someone says the things that have to be said. GoW III can easily be described the same way like the series as a whole in one word: REDUNDANT

Great review, as to be expected by Yahtzee, but doesn't it feel a tad redundant?

Oh, by the way, about the box art: am I the only one who finds it lazy?

But God of War III? A close up on the eye, staring at you. Is this really the best you can come up with? Is that really the best way to sucker in the gaming market that you could think of?

My bet is that since God of War III was one of the most hyped games ever to be made, they figured that they could just slack off on the box art and it wouldn't affect sales at all. Which it didn't. So I guess laziness has gone rewarded in this case.

It shows excellent graphic design. With having little going on in it with the red giving a high contrast against his white skin, it's very eye catching. Also, even though it's only an eye, you can instantly tell it's Kratos, and the frown shows he's an angry guy, which is what the whole game plays off of. The artists who made the game aren't lazy in the slightest seeing how there's tonnes of other promotional art out there and then there's the amazing design that went into the game it's self.

And do you honestly think that a game having a really huge, detailed picture on the box will increase it's sales?

Well yeah that's what ZP has always been about, not a review but just bashing the weak points in a funny way. I think he once wasn't negative enough about a game (Psychonauts) and nobody liked the video about it =P

Yeah, the moment Yahtzee gets positive about a game people seem to get really, really upset for some untold, strange reason.

Hasn't if felt this way for a while now?
Actually I'm glad that with his soar throat he doesn't rely on dick jokes and foul language as much...
I meant the game he reviewed not the review, I mean Yahtzee himself said "you review one god of war game you review them all"

You sound precisely like when you did your Heavenly Sword(s) video. Another flu bogged you down lately?

Yahtzee sounds like he's tired and/or not feeling well.

I haven't played God of War III, so I can only go by what my brother said... which was that he was angry about not being able to get onto some platform or something. I'll have to ask again and see whether or not he ever got passed it, and was thus able to form an opinion about the rest of the game.

YEah too bad about the throat you can tell but its really funny that they suspended ESA_suit for commenting too early yet he said something that you would probably have to of seen the video to know :D

Yahtzee sounded either completely exhausted or he was just very unenthusiastic heading into this game review. This one seemed mailed in.

I felt the same way about a lot of the things you mentioned (hades again, the all-powerful artifact you need to claim to beat the last boss, the useless weapons/items, etc), and I never really thought about the story that way, but I agree, it does seem like they dragged out the ending like that. It could have been handled a lot more gracefully, but I'm still happy they made a third game. I'm not very far in it yet, but from what I've seen so far, I'm pretty impressed, if not by the visuals alone. It still has everything I liked about the series, and the scale and some of the battles in the game are downright impressive. Had God of War 2 ended with you killing Zeus, I probably would have been left begging for another 7-9 hours to stab things in the face.

Even if it makes the story feel dragged out, I think we all still wanted to see this game. Brutal gameplay mixed in with glorious HD and a scale unlike anything I've seen in a game before. The second game will probably be my favorite when all is said and done, but GoW 3 is definitely a solid addition to the series, it's still fun to play, and the impressive visuals and boss fights give us anything we were missing or could have wanted from the series.

Now, my only real problem is finding the god damn eyes/feathers/horns. In the first game it was pretty much impossible to pass by a chest and not realize it. But with each game they made it harder and harder, and it's to the point now where you can pass by some chests accidentally and not be able to go back to get it. WTF is that nonsense.

I never liked the other God of War games (too repetitive, button mashingly silly etc) so not much convincing was needed of me to stop me buying it.

Ha I don't follow Yahtzee on Twatbox so I didn't know he was ill. Must admit, I did think 'who the frick is this loser' when it first came on o_O le whups.

Hehe, ever since I started reading Darths and Droids and came across "Summon Bigger Fish!" It's been extra easy to make me laugh. As such, a balloon driving a taxi threw me over the edge. As Kratos does to his foes, oh so many times. So much blood 0.0

I personally loved the more lowkey voice. For some reason it fit well with the topic of GoW.

But yeah, fantastic as always. I lol'd at ballon taxi...

Yahtzee, to no offense but you've actually gotten worse at these reviews than your early attempts.

What is with the monotone attitude? Throughout the whole review you have one stagnate voice and that's it....I mean, at least show your frustration or hate in the game rather than just general boredom in doing the review. Is your job really that boring? Sitting at a desk for 8 hours while taking in phone calls that are either directed to tech support or someone calling in to make a payment...THAT is boring. Review games with a cartoon video and zanny antics is fun...

Basically, bring back the old Yahtzee review attitude....or get out of the business.
