I'm fairly sure he is already swarmed by gamer girls who offer to have his babies and the like. And by swarmed, I mean they write him emails.

Good review! I hate that voice, too. It reminds me of a cross between a lawnmower and Christian Bale as Batman... :)
Hah, Bale's voice is what sandpaper sounds like when it's making love!

Oh, the irony.
I think there is a misunderstanding here. It it just a sugestion to stop using politics in his reviews. I'm not angry at it, and I stop caring after I gave my opinon on the joke but since both you feel as though you have to dedicate posts on the matter and be a jerk about it, I now have to point out that I cleary said it was a joke in my first post, it was just bad. Not to mention your both telling me to get over it when it's you who should get over my post, don't respond, and move on. I know it's a joke but I liked it better when he reviewed the game with clever metaphors and similies that made us fall out of our chairs. I would prefer if you don't respond to this either.
As he beat me to the irony mark I will try to explain this first. You called anyone who would laugh at this joke ignorant and overly-sensitive. This is ironic as you are being amazingly over sensitive about this joke and given your mass attack on any one who found it funny you are also being more than a little ignorant. However it was not the fact that you did not get it was a joke that makes it ironic. That and you would prefer it if people did not respond what sort of crap is that? If you don't want a response don't say any thing other wise grow up.
I didn't want a response because I was assuming they were just going to post another 5 word response with no content; if your going to call me out on something like this why not type a little bit more otherwise, like you said, grow up. I don't think one sentence can be qualified as a mass attack.

Yahtzee's political jokes never make any sense because they're always blown way out of proportion and I was just giving my opinion that political jokes suck and to stop hammering the Republican party (not that I'm one, it think political parties pointless). I made that overly sensitive radical liberal remark right on the spot because I couldn't think of anyone else who would laugh at that and possibly think that actually makes sense. I just disagreed with that joke, thought it was tasteless(I think I've made it pretty clear at this point that I know it was a joke) and now i'm being called overly sensitive for disagreeing with something. Or maybe it's because everyone is under the notion that I'm overly sensitive about overly sensitive people. Well I'm not... now that we have that settled we can get on with our lives and stop caring about this ridiculous argument.

Its official now, whenever the vast forum community decides to praise a game mindlessly, Saints Row 2 and Portal wont be the only games that fit that description.

Yay.

The increasing rumbles over karma-point grinding morality systems punishing players for actually roleplaying a character somewhere between sainted and Stalin in otherwise good roleplaying games (waves at Jade Empire) move one to ask the question why the bloody nora can't more developers rip off the Witcher?

No, not the "woman as sexual trading cards" aspect. No no, not the dodgy production values. No, I am NOT referring to the slow as sludge start that makes Baldur's Gate II look thrilling. I'm referring to the game giving you choices where there is no automatic good and evil side, and where the consequences of your decisions sometimes take entire chapters to turn up,forcing you to make decisions based on your own reasoning and morality and live with the consequences rather than "which one gives me the karma I'm playing for this time?". God damn it,the game was reasonably poplar, you'd think somebody would have ripped off its outstanding feature by now. I'm not crazy on brazenly stealing other people's ideas, but its surely better than this silly binary approach we see now.

Review was a bit tame this time, but I agree so much with all of it I don't care.
It cannot be said enough these retarded morality systems in games can fuck off.

Who started this stupid trend anyway? Was it Molyneux with Fable?
The earliest game in which I can think of having a morality system based on good, neutral, and evil is Shin Megami Tensei by Atlus. Which was released in 1992. And pretty much every single spinoff from the series to this date. That set aside, Infamous is actually a great game. So is Prototype. I actually suggest purchasing both. Just be warned about the memory bug if you get the PS3 version of Prototype. It doesn't happen to everyone, but it's been reported quite a few times now.

I might actually get this game now, this was... an unbiased review... from Yahtzee... I am scared now... he might stop hating things, paradoxically we love him for hating things, but deep down I bet that Yahtzee is a warm fuzzy SNAG who has a teddy. Don't tell him I said that though because if he heard that he might overcompensate for the lack of angry he had this week.

Me too, sorta... I mean, I knew he didn't review Killzone 2 or Street Fighter IV because they had numbers at the end, and since this game is awesome, well-advertised & number free he had no reason NOT to review it. I played the demo and thought it was magnificent, so I had intent to to buy it for my PS3 no matter how the rewiew went. (I was still eager to see it, though) Cole McNice or Cole McDick, lol!

I'd guess the first game to have a good/neutral/evil morality system was D&D (albeit an unquantified one), though someone with a good knowledge of wargames and early tabletop RPGs may correct me on that. I'd guess the first morality system in a video game would thus probably be an early D&D adaptation.

I liketh not a game where respecting of wenches is discouraged, those heathen curs will never stop will they?

(Not all heathens are curs, just the ones who don't respect wenches. Don't be a cur, respect wenches.)

Unbelievable! I was cringing when I saw Infamous in his crosshairs, but he actually liked it! And damn straight frankly; it's a killer game. Sucker Punch outdid themselves with this one, fixing almost every problem most sandbox games suffer from. But more importantly, they made it fun!

He even pointed out - in the credits - one of the things that impressed me: a sandbox game that has a legitimate reason for the character to die when they touch water!

If you own a PS3, you need to buy this game.
yeah it actually makes sense that he can't swim, wish I could say the same about his healing

Verily good sir or madam, me thinkest there must be many a game which thou dost not like, for the heathens known as game designers have the most sinful predilections to see the most sacred feminine form as ye olde fan service of titties on a stick... eth. Tho in truth, is certain the sledded Polacks are more heathenish than most.

Yeah! Those slavery-loving Republicans! Trying to secede from the Union just so they could keep all that slave labor their economies relied on! Then trying to keep all those Jim Crow laws on the books all those years to try to stop the "Negroes" from voting! Then trying to enforce and uphold segregation for all of those years!

...oh, wait a minute, I don't think those were Republicans come to think of it. I wonder which party would go and do something like that...

I agree with him on the moral choices.

I also would like to point out Mass Effect here. It's the first game that should satisfy Yahtzee in this regard. It wasn't about good or evil, it was about choosing between two right choices and judging for yourself which one is better.

I'd immediatly guess his next review is going to be Prototype to compare the two games one after the other since that's what fans have been doing.

As far as the rest goes, it WAS very funny, but in the end it seems that Yahtzee is against any kind of plot resolution. I mean he criticizes "Indigo Prophecy" because it basically wrapped up the story from all the atmosphere "yes it is going somewhere" and finished things up with a bang. He then seems to compare any game that has a dramatic resolution to that, like it's a bad thing.

I mean in inFamous your dealing with a super hero (or villain) and one expects there to be antagonists for our protaganist to fight. You know, super villains and such. So of course dudes with powers are going to show up, and as time goes on they are going to become more powerful to present a credible threat to him.

He never reads this stuff, but if *I* had the oppertunity to really get Yahtzee to answer some questions, one of them would be "How would YOU have brought Indigo Prophecy to a satisfying conclusion?".

To generate tons of mystery and suspense with no payoff would be horrendous storytelling and he's ripped on games for lousy (or non-existant) resolution in the past I believe.

At any rate, decent review, and it's nice to see he's found another game he likes. Perhaps this will be the "Saint's Row 2" of 2009. :)

The game plays great but I absolutely hate the character development. Your main love interest dumps you 30 seconds into the game and has as much development as a random background character in a B-horror film. You can probably guess that I didn't care much for the obvious end of the love interest.

Where, if I may ask, is the deep character development in video games? Why don't I ever care about the characters at all? When people, like Aerith, bite the bullet, all I think of is, "Well, there goes my secondary healer I never used", and proceed to kick myself for not remembering to take all the good items off of the character before the cutscene.

.
Um, I sorta got the impression this game (and prototype) isn't supposed to be deep. It's supposed to be shallow and fun.
So, it can't be deep and fun? If it isn't supposed to be deep, why even bother with the other characters? I don't care if an action platformer is made, just don't waste time and resources on story and voice actors when they're absolutely meaningless to the game experience. Mario is just about jumping on things. If inFamous just focused on zapping things with electricity, it would have been just fine. Papering it over with a stupid story isn't doing the game any favors.
...stop putting words into my mouth. I could have fun with deep games. Also, I'd imagine they need a semblence story to string missions together. and, even if it is a waste of their money it doesn't make it any worse for the consumer so why should we care?
