Y'know, thinking about it for a second, Yahtzee probably just did this segment so that he could have another week playing GTA IV without having to worry about reviewing it..

...That and baiting fanboys. It's fun; you just attach a Gamecube to a fishing line and when they catch the scent you reel them into oncoming traffic... Satisfying.

Excellent video.

I look forward to a GTA IV. I would be curious as to how he would handle that one...

While I can't say I agree with Mr. Yahtzee's review of Brawl entirely, I do agree that fanboys (of any game, or console, mind you) are absolutely insane and need to be put down. I love me some Smash Bros. Brawl, but I didn't make a big fuss over it. Why? Because I have better things to do with my life. I commend Mr. Yahtzee for turning it around on the insane, and hopefully waking a couple of the whiny twerps up. This was an excellent video, sir.

That being said, don't you think some of you guys are overreacting to the overreactions of the other crazy folks? I mean, it just seems a little double-standard if you ask me.

While I found the review very amusing and in fine taste really, I seem to disagree quite a bit with the vast majority of people in this thread.

Yahtzee wasn't being a douche to the fanboys or putting them in their place. He just took out some fairly badly written and rushed defenders of Brawl and presented them in a silly light, pointing out flaws in both the logic and the writing itself. All well and good, and I thought he touched on a couple of subjects, but a lot of it was simply explaining his point of view.

I felt he gave the fanboys what they deserve, and that was just some humorous, a bit thought-provoking ideas. Not putting them in their place as scum of the universe, which some people seem to think he's doing.

Go team retard as a segway is pretty funny though.

I come to Yahtzee's site to see his brutally honest reviews of videogames, and if he destroys the pathetic arguments of a few nintendo fanboys, so much the better. The game was overrated, and I'm been a Nintendo fan for longer than most of these recent nintendo fanboys have been alive.
Pathetic arguments? The strongest argument from the last 1k+ threader was "The game is NOT a button basher". That wasn't covered in today's 'review' :p (although it's perfectly understandable that when you touch the game for the first time it's like ".....que?")

That was fantastic. I love how you always put these fan-boys in their place. I wonder how many of those that sent you hate about SSBB loved your Halo 3 review? I have a feeling it was many of them.

Hell, I didn't agree with some of the reviews either (notably any RPG he reviews...<.<) but i still ended up laughing my head off. Of course Wii fanboys DO ***** a lot... They must still be mad about the Gamecube or something.

EDIT: Oh, and about the scoring thing, last time I checked, Ebert & Roeper don't have a scoring system for their movie reviews and I want someone to say THEY aren't true critics.

All this fuss. I can't wait until he reviews GTA4. I'm sure the world will be up in arms about it.

So far, nobody has noticed the blatantly obvious: Those three "letters" that he read weren't e-mails, they were COMMENTS in the Brawl thread.

This is just Yahtzee's way of keeping up the illusion that he doesn't read these comments, am I right?

BEST 'REVIEW' EVER!

So good I must register to post. And I've been watching since over half a year ago.

I laugh at how this forum has jumped to 700+ in less than 48 hours with 1/3 fanboy, 1/3 fanboy bashing, and 1/3 people like me saying this is best ever.

Considering the fanaticism of fanboys in general, I wouldn't be surprised if they were both posted and emailed.

Man, have you ever noticed that "Fanboy" Is pretty much the same in relation to gaming as "terrorist/ism" is to Politics? With politics, you say what you want to do somehow decreases terrorism or that your opponent's idea somehow increases terrorism and you win because no one wants to get anywhere near looking like they support terrorism.

In gaming, all you have to do is accuse your enemy of being a "Fanboy" and suddenly you've won because everyone knows being a "fanboy" is bad, but no one really knows for sure what one is, and any arguments your opponent makes to defend himself from that point on makes him look like more of a fanboy in the eyes of any spectators.

Crazy.

Isn't it funny how people try to defend that game even now? They keep saying that they aren't a fanboy and couldn't care less what Yahtzee thinks about it. If you're not a fanboy, you're not going to post a rant against the review.

People have different views on games. Yahtzee looks at the quality of a game in his reviews, and if it's crap, it gets a crap review. Not like the people at Gamespot who fire people over a bad review of the wrong game ie. Kane & Lynch. The same would happen if they gave Halo 3 the bad review it really deserved. Or Crysis for that matter. It looks good, but it's filled to the top with bugs, topped with a crap ending.

I rather liked the mailbag. I would hope it would become a regular feature, but then there'd be twits who will write stupid things just to see if they can get into the next mailbag. That might prove more trouble than it's worth.

Lol. So ppl don't like your reviews hey yahtzee. You must be doing something right. Oh and Trillby is an amusing little gamelet, but not as good as the mind numbingly addictive peggle. Which probably sez something about me.
Ausi! Ausi! Ausi!
Oi! Oi! Oi!

P.S. I hope that all EA employees die of ghonarhea and rot in hell.

If you don't want to hear the opinions of others, then why bother with reviews? I certainly don't agree with everything that Yahtzee says, but I still enjoy watching his videos because they're entertaining.

I agree, and the same can be said to Yahtzee and everyone in this thread. If you don't want to hear what other people think, don't read this thread.

It's ironic how so many people are getting mad at those who are willing to discuss a game review in a forum topic designed specifically for that purpose. The audacity of those people! :p

I don't get it. Can't Yahtzee tell his spam filter to filter out the words like "brawl" and stuff like that? I'd try to do that if I were him.

I did however think this was funny
