Anyway, if he didn't like the autoaim he could of changed it to expert tageting which gets rid of it.

Sure, horse chases aren't as fun as car chases...

...until you finally get close enough, lasso the guy off his horse, drag him across the valley, then snap his spine across a cactus.

Also: even though I can fast travel, I never do, because there's always something to fight, chase, capture, collect, hunt, snipe at, etc, and the scenery is just frickin beautiful!

This game is glorious; you suck, Ben Croshaw.

Yeah but that's kinda what he does, he points out these things (and blows them up a little bit for laughs), and then you decide whether you can still live with them being in the game or not. I'd still buy the game. I'd still buy most games that have something about them that interested me in the first place.

Someone has probably already pointed this out, but when he complained about the auto aim, just switch to Expert targeting. It's waaay more fun that way.

I'm not sure if Yahtzee actually finished the game since the ending actually has you (rather large spoiler here)

bloody from multiple gunshots and then dying. Marston's redemption in the game that ultimately comes from saving his son literally does involve him being both red and dead.

And yeah, some of the other complaints are a little off since if you just hold A then you don't have to worry about being run off the road and of course the aiming can be adjusted to your liking.

Still, a pretty good review.

I really hate the unskippable skinning animations.

One time i was skinning a sheep then all of a sudden a beer spawns and attack me! i can do nothing to defend myself because John is so Red Dead Set on skinning that sheep!

John: "I don't care if a Cthulhu or whatever monstrosities are killing me! I gotta skin this sheep!"

But I have to say, I didn't encounter a single one of the weird glitches he mentioned, scratched disk, perhaps?

I think the glitches were literally on a case-by-case basis. I had alot of friends conplain about glitches and I had none. My friend rode in a straight line from Hennigan's Stead to Escuela (not joking) through rock and over water, but the game was fine for me.

Jesus ZP I just don't know what you want from games these days. You cry out for proper sandboxing and when you get it you criticise it for being a timesink. As for complaining about mountain lions doing what mountain lions do. I.e. hunt in packs and attempt rip you open?! You gave your horse a goddamn name for goodness sake - how much more sandboxy can it get?!

Oh, and I really haven't experienced any of the glitches or bugs that are so vehemently described in this review despite playing for about 20 hours. I really think they're overblown.

He's a comedian, not a critic, the sooner you stop taking his reviews seriously, the sooner they become more amusing, trust me, I've stopped taking him seriously for about 4 vids now, and I'm enjoying ZP more as a result. >_<

Yeahhh... the sooner you realise that people can be equally satirical in their responses the better. I generally wait for the extra punctuation to get his genuine opinion on gaming. My point about the much maligned glitches is my own personal observation though so I feel entitled to mention it.

Dude... Communism... Really? The Guerilla group red faction was CALLED red faction because they were on Mars, the red planet. Why Mars? Because that's the setting they used. There was no communism involved, it's just how the game was created.

I will agree with others saying that the name MIGHT mean something, but only AFTER the final stranger quest after the "main Story" is done. Then again, that only explains the redemption part. Red Dead is just to carry it over from revolver... Shame though. You'd think they'd make a cameo from Red or something

(I'd like to state now that I never played Red Dead Revolver, so if John Marston meeting red is impossible due to a death in Red's story or something, I wouldn't know about it)

I DID like how almost all the stranger quests turned out messed up. It really showed how alot of people went to the old west trying to find fame and breaking themselves, or going insane. Was a nice touch.

Gotta say that I didn't agree much with this one (except with money being kinda useless), but then again, I've got only like 6-7 hours into the game.

I've had no trouble with any dangerous animals because I just, you know, AVOID the areas they roam in and there's easy ways to travel around quickly instead of horseriding. The controls and physics are just fine to me and I've yet to encounter any glitches other than some very minor ones. The auto-aim and Dead Aim problems are easily fixed from the options.

As for the in-game activities not having any purpose, I just like to immerse myself into the wild west thing by catching outlaws, looking for treasures, hunting etc. There's so much to do that it's hard to get bored.

I love how you're taking that as a *OMG, I should take a look at this game*. There are many things in this world that are pretty to look at, but for videogames, that is the absolute last quality I need to have. You should read some other articles on this site, like the one "Experienced Points" that talks about graphics and how we don't need to progress any further in that department. I don't like to feel like a game is purposefully wasting my time - for me, riding through pretty landscape with little to nothing in the way of distraction is beyond boring. Not to say that I always need purpose in a game, but the only time where inbetween travel is fun is in Shadows of the Colossus; where I'm expected to find my way around without someone holding my hand, without a map, and, further, I will find a gargantuan boss to crawl all over and slay at the end of my journey.

"Beautifully written and atmospheric" does not translate to "looks pretty" - writing has absoloutely NOTHING to do with graphics, nor does atmosphere; a game can have relatively mediocre graphics and still have great atmosphere. Your misinterpretation of my original comment is absoloutely baffling.

Secondly, he said other things about the game other than "it looks good" - I'm not thinking about checking out the game because it looks pretty, I really don't care that strongly about graphics, but I'm glad you felt the need to be loquacious and post your little blurb on the relative unimportance of graphics when it comes to delivering a positive gaming experience.

I'm sorry for skewing your words a little, but I don't feel that I was that far off the mark.

What did he say before "beautifully atmospheric and beautifully written"? OH YEAH - he said something about "looks", didn't he? And forgive me if I interpreted the word "beautiful" to have something to do with appearance. I don't think that the repetition of that word was coincidence...beautiful atmosphere and beautiful writing makes me think of one thing: flowers. Lots of flowers to pick and flowery writing, but not enough 'game', for me.

I don't usually troll comments, but I have to admit that I'm not a huge fan of Rockstar's previous offerings; this new game doesn't blow me away, either. We'll see what Yahtzee thinks in his "Extra Punctuation", but your initial comment sounded to me like it was missing the point of the video.

Can't really see why you're being a dick about this, mate. Everything is an opinion, even the articles from experianced points. We all have different opinions, and he happened to interpret your post to say something. If it's off the mark, be a nice person and explain where you're coming from, do not slander people. Why take a debate about a videogame to such a personal level? How were they supposed to know you read EVERYTHING? They posted a suggestion.

And to respond, atmosphere DOEs have something to do with looks. If I'm playing an old west game, I'm going to want to feel like I am, and see it too. I lvoed how you could kill people off and create a ghost town in the game, and then the moment you walked into that dead down, you see the emptiness, the run down nature of the town, and you can feel it to. It's not a definition, but it's a contributing factor.

And third: Ofcourse he hated on the game. I think the only game he hasn't shot down is portal. He normally says a few redeeming features
