Well, the line of commentary about women was expected and sort of on the money given that most of the people who play The Sims *ARE* women, and it seems to have evolved around those sensibilities. It's even gotten to the point that people have talked about being indirectly insulted by game store employees if they are a guy and buy a copy.
It's amusing I guess because it's a woman's game trying to make pretensions of being directed at everyone despite the target audience. With something like "Barbie Horse Adventures" you'd expect it a bit more.
"Sims" and the Paranormal romance genere, the current recreational stomping grounds of the modern woman.
Predictable material aside (he's just funnier in saying what everyone else was), he did seem a bit hoarse. All I can say is "Thank you Yahtzee". ZP is one of the things that I look forward to, and I'm glad even if he wasn't feeling well that he still took the time to entertain us.
As far as the comments about being surprised about what game he chose to review, I'd point out that "Red Faction: Gueriella", and "The Conduit" both advertised here on The Escapist. RFG even going so far as to get it's own badge for our accounts (which I never obtained).
Going back to Yahtzee's old comment about EVE "being a challenge since they advertise here on The Escapist", I can easily see how games that advertise here would not want to be reviewed by Yahtzee, and might take their business elsewhere.
I do not know exactly how the EVE Online thing played out after that, but I would imagine the guys who pay Yahtzee are keeping him on a fairly tight lease, and effort is being made to avoid a fiasco like the one that got a certain famous reviewed kicked for blasting "Kane and Lynch".
No I can't spell, and yes I know my english is horrible.
