Fuck Yeah.
I know it's not an eloquent statement, however it sums up my thoughts on this weeks installment beautifully.

That's what I read.
Thats cause you cant read.

I dont even care who Tim Buckley is, i've never even read CAD, i dont even know where to find it.

But yeah obviously no one can find fault in Yhatzee right? And i'm the nerd who's whining of course, not you. Right.

Enough about trolls lets talk about the subject matter.

This review was crap for the same reason about 90% of modenr parody movies are crap. There is a fine line between making light of a subject and being a prick, and Yhatzee planted himself on the prick side of the line ages ago.

He says he's aware of the hypocritical nature of it all but he clearly isnt, he seems to genuinely believe that he's funny or witty. As someone said WAY back about, oh, three pages ago...most of his reviews are complete BS. If you own these games you'll understand but he takes small problems and seems to imply they take up a whole game, and otherwise makes up problems out of whole cloth (the supposedly "slipery" controls of Turok, which werent, for example). I think he seems to have leapt onto the AVGN's bandwagon without noticing that the Nerd is being self-consciously ironic, and not serious. In effect, Yhatzee IS an angry video game nerd, only he's not playing a character he really is one.

Is it funny? Yeah sometimes. Other times the open dishonesty of some of the "reviews" is simply too much to deal with. And then there's this. I've never read CAD but the word on the interwebs is that Yhatzee and Buckley are rivals. I find this just hilarious. I'm reminded of high school, where two pawing, friendless dorks would try and cling to a little rivalry or something and toss spitballs at one another from across the class. It was childish and stupid then and it's even more so when the two dorks are grown men. But thats the one truism found in Penny Arcade...normal people, given the obscuring mists of the internet, become Jeckyl and Hyde when they realize no one can really retaliate.

I'm sure flames will rain down on me for saying this, of course. I guess i should be...scared or whatever. But i'm sorry, having both a girlfriend and functional genetals i simply dont care to put up with such High School 'tardery. I graduated, i did my time.
points considered, and i wont flame you, your observations are accurate. While i disagree with your interpretations i don't think less of you because of them.

Do not judge the internet so harshly! some of us do genuinely want to be friends.

Ok so you either can read but are lazy, cant read, or you think you can critique something without reading it. Ok, sure.

How old are you? Seriously, cause i'm 23 and i'm not sure i should even be talking to you, there might be like a Federal law against it. Does your mother know you're trolling?

I find it highly ironic than a bunch of people who get their panties in a twist every time someone dares to restrict gaming speech can so quickly turn around and say "oh, you shouldn't talk about XYZ in gaming comics"...

I think this attitude suits The Escapist a lot more than some of the other comments... While ZettaSan spouts off childish shrill like "I didn't read your post because I'm not an idiot. Nurr.", you take the high road. Cheers.

CAD has really jumped the shark lately, and Tim has tried to rein it in with the influx of gaming comics, but too much damage has been done. Someone mentioned the CYOA storyline; I actually thought that was inventive, and when he later posted the whole storyline diagram, it was really cool to see the direction it would have taken had different choices been chosen. HOWEVER, this last arc sucked hard. I'm really glad Red Vs Blue: Reconstruction is gearing up.

I can't say I approve of what Ben did with this Zero Punctuation, and especially since a lot of people seem to know about a longstanding feud between him and Tim. ZP is a great comic and he is hilarious (JRPG comments are ALWAYS right on), but Ben's reasoning that the surrounding web comic environment affects gaming is like saying Hancock sucks because the popcorn at the theater was bad.

I will be looking forward to next week, and I wish I could say this is one I'll listen to more than once.

I wouldn't like a back-and-forth between ZP and CAD because it would pale in comparison to the epic back-and-forth between the Angry Video Game Nerd [http://cinemassacre.com/] and the Nostalgia Critic [http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/].

I did actually like the CYOA. Where'd he post the full diagram again?

EDIT: Whoops, shouldn't have double-posted...

I dunno, it seems like the AVGN vs NC "fight" was more poking some good-natured fun at each other. This post [http://screwattack.com/node/4774] gives a good rundown of what happened, and supplies the respective videos and responses.

EDIT: Whole CYOA CAD diagram can be found here. [http://www.cad-comic.com/images/COA_storytree.jpg]

Yeah,of course the AVGN/NC fight was just a gag. I half-suspect maybe aimed somewhat at mocking other "internet rivalries".

Thats really why AVGN is the funniest, and perhaps most successful, of the interweb critic...he takes himself about as seriously as everyone else does. He's knowingly and obviously ironic and it really works.

This is also, BTW, the reason why old parodies such as Blazing Saddles and Airplane! work better than Meet the Spartans and Epic Movie: they make fun of themselves first, then the genre second, and then if there is time everyone else...not the other way around (i'm looking at you Meet the Spartans).

I don't care if people hate you for your reviews. All they do is whine about the negative things you say about their favorite games. Your reviews are awesome. Yes, games I like have fallen victim like SSBB and Resident Evil but your way of shooting them down was funny. Besides, it's not like I care about your opinions, I just like your reviews. Also, I read webcomics and I have never heard of this CAD nor do I care much about him/her/it/pie.
