Dave finally found the kitchen and started searching in one of the massive fridges. "Mah gof, dif stuff isf amafing!" he mumbled through a mouthful of food. He looked around the kitchen to find something to play with. He spotted a large window that had large steel plates on the outside of them. Taking a closer look, Dave saw that there were some mechanics that allowed it. "Let's see what Garion has in his back yard!" Dave thought, and slowly lowered the shutters.
The back yard was covered in a beautiful garden, now slightly over-grown from neglect. "Wow," gasped Dave, seeing the many bright colors and butterflies floating among the flowers. His gazed was so fixed on the colors that he almost missed the little girl standing in the middle of two bushes, watching him.
"Eep!" Dave cried, quickly shutting the windows. He then slowly lowered them again, peering above them. The girl was in the same spot, still staring at him.
"Umm, hey? Do you need any help?" Dave said through the window. The girl remained silent. She didn't appear to be hurt, though her eyes looked a bit funny to Dave.
"Hey, you! Are you okay, do you need help?" Dave called again, this time louder.
The girl tilted her head, as though confused. She then walked through the bushes, revealing the ragged remains of her body. Her stomach hung out of the hole in the abdomen. Her left arm was missing, with only a thin bone sticking out of her stump.
"Oh, uh, never mind then..." Dave whispered, and began to slowly close the shutters.
The girl smiled, revealing a row of pointed teeth. She waved with her intact hand, and Dave saw her mouth the words "Bye Bye."
Dave slammed the shutters shut. "Uh, Garion?" he called, making his way toward the basement. Suddenly, from outside the window, a banshee scream vibrated the whole kitchen. After his ears stopped ringing, Dave heard more screams, but farther away. But there was many of them, and some of them...were coming closer.
"GARION!!!" Dave screamed, making a mad dash for the basement.
