I mean Im not sure that fully tracks. Thanos started Infinity War with an infinity stone, and then got another one in the opening scene, and that makes him the most powerful being in the universe. And yeah he wipes the floor with the Avengers, who are disjointed and fighting on multiple fronts against an increasingly most powerful being in the Universe. And then in Endgame when he no longer has the stones the Avengers kill him effortlessly.Yeah well, the problem is that the threat of Thanos, as presented in the films, is disjointed at best. He's powerful enough WITHOUT any of the stones in Endgame to hold off the entire Avengers, but was weaker WITH the stones (and also fighting fewer Avengers), in Infinity War to be a threat? It's entirely down to plot armor. So it's entirely possible that they introduce some BBEG with cosmic powers, that are cancelled out because of Secret Magical Ninja Kung Fu Chi Guy, in classic yin/yang logic. I mean come on, this is Marvel, shit doesn't make sense, and they don't care. It just has to make narrative sense, and even that's debatable.
And when other Thanos comes in he doesn't have any of the stones, and he has to fight all the Avengers united. That's a pretty different situation.
