I say, 't appears this chap has quite literally put a price on his head. Here's to hoping he doesn't lose face over it.

For real tho, dude is a massive fucking dumbass wanker and that is a shameful waste of money.
I'm conflicted. I mean, I regard most diamonds as several overpriced and generally a waste of money for decoration. OTOH, How the fuck do you embed a diamond in your head?

Not to belittle the tragedy with my nonsense or attempt to actual involve myself, but today I was reminded of something that has stuck with me for almost 14 years now. The day before the infamous Virginia Tech School Shooting, I received an ominous Xbox Live friend request from someone with the gamertag “MyBrothersKeeper” or "MyBrotherCain" (something to that effect,) and his gamer picture was the Virginia Tech logo (below.) I had no idea who he was; I checked, and I hadn’t played anything with him, at least not anything recently enough that he showed up in my recent players listing. Anyway, I deleted the request as I had no reason to add someone who didn’t know me nor I them. The next day, the shooting at Virginia Tech happened; I told my friends about the strange coincidence, and they teased me that the shooter was probably reaching out to me, and my denying his request might have set him off. I shrugged it off as the chances that the random friend requester and the shooter were one in the same is infinitely small, but every time I see Virginia Tech’s logo, and part of me wonders…

I checked on his gamertag a few times shortly after the shooting, and indeed, his activity ended (last I checked on the specific name I no longer remember) immediately around the time of the shooting, i.e.: he'd been offline for weeks at that point, and that's never sat well with me.

Ok, so, last night someone tried to hijack my discord account. Judging by the email notifications I got, a total of 887 login attempts were made, spaced about a minute apart.

Probably a bot. I mean, I hope that was a bot. Imagine if it weren't.

Half a day is quite a long time to try to steal an identity via a singular password. Personally, I'd just kill you, peel your face off and wear it like a mask, but what do I know?

I'm a big fan of this guy named Joseph Kittinger. He was in the airforce for the early Nasa stuff. He's famous for this mission Project Excelsior where in he took a hot airballon 102,000 feet up and touched the edge of space before jumping off, setting a record. It was test to see if an astronaut could fall from the atmospheric edge and survive. He went up despite realizing halfway through his right glove was partially detached. When he landed his hand had swollen up to a balloon due to pressure. Afterwards he flew three tours in vietnam, flying a total of 483 combat missions. If you're wondering about the guy who holds the current record for 120,000 with that Redbull jump recently. Joe trained him as well and worked on that mission

I like this video of his jump. Its got a good soundtrack

"I am at 103,000 feet, looking out over a very beautiful, beautiful world. As you look up, it is a hostile sky. As I sit here and wait, I have realized that man will never conquer space. We will learn to live with it, but we will never conquer it. I can see for over 400 miles. Beneath me I can see the clouds... looking through my mirror, the sky is absolutely black. Devoid of anything. I can see the beautiful blue of the sky and above that it goes into a deep, deep, dark, indescribable blue which no artist could ever capture. It's fantastic." — Joseph Kittinger, Radio communication, August 16, 1960

Current Record jump

Thats Joe talking him through it.

You know how doctors and whatnot sometimes tell you to drink lots of fluids?

Yeh, I mean, every try to drink a solid, or a gas? It doesn't work so good.

Catastrophic weapon malfunction leads to catastrophic user damage. (Timecoded to show explosion.)

(No visible blood or gore, but the aftermath isn't pretty.)

Hot-loaded round, 85k PSI in a weapon designed for 55k. The bullet simply couldn't get out of the barrel fast enough to relieve the pressure in time.

Ever had melatonin dreams? It's what I've been experiencing over the past several nights. Since wrenching my shoulder a couple of weeks ago, I've been unable to sleep very well, so my girlfriend suggested melatonin, a supplement to help you stay asleep (not to be mistaken with a sleep aid which MAKES you sleep.) And so far it has worked, but with one significant side effect: extremely vivid dreams.

Typically, my dreams are your bog standard absurdities, i.e.: make no sense, filled with fantastic environments and creatures, faceless/nameless people, etc., but these melatonin dreams? They could easily be memories for how grounded in reality they are. I know everyone in them; it's mostly my family and girlfriend, and the situations we're in are very normal. In fact, they've all been in places that I recognize; usually, in my dreams, what I recognize in-dream as "my house" is nothing like my house in real life. And their topical, as well. For instance, my girlfriend just finished her final round of chemotherapy, but lost her hair about a month and a half ago; a recent dream saw me with her, her sister and two nieces shopping for a wig, something we haven't even thought about doing but is easily something we would do. The dream even picked the two of her three nieces mostly likely to want to do something like that with her.

It's really hard to explain. Mostly they're not bad dreams, it's just bizzare and unsettling hanging out with friends and family for an evening only to discover you never actually got out of bed.

As someone who's had problems staying asleep for years, I somewhat recently started taking melatonin, and yes, vivid dreams are a regular thing for me now. Not quite as realistic/grounded in reality, but they do often share a commonality: A lot of times if I'm having one of those dreams and wake up and then go back to sleep, the dream will pick up where it left off. (Not exactly a good thing when the dream was a nightmare.)

I sometimes wonder just what was going through our ancestors heads considering what has made it into our diets.

"Hey, see the milk coming out of the cow over there? Let's steal some and drink it. That's not wierd at all to drink the milk of another species"
"Oh, the milk went bad and turned solid. Wonder what it tastes like?"-The first human to taste cheese.
"The grapes went bad and turned into a very....strong juice. Maybe we could make more of this"-The first wine taster.
"Hey, what if we put this plant in our mouths and light it on fire?"-The first hemp/weed/tobacco(whichever one came first) user

I suspect people were really bored or really desperate at times.

YES! Every dream I wake up from pretty much picks up where it left off when I fall back asleep! Glad to know I'm not an exception!

Hats off to this guy. I'd be traumatized for life. So, someone just packed the bullet wrong? No way to tell ahead of time? And this stuff is dangerous in so many ways. I may have even seen this ricochet video in this forum: EDIT: There is nothing icky here: the guy literally dodges a bullet. Really interesting sound it makes.

The really funny thing there is that Greenland's name (its name in European languages anyway) is probably a deliberate con. The first permanent European settlements in Greenland were founded by an explorer called Erik the Red, who was exiled from Iceland. When he finally returned to Iceland, he tried to attract people to move to his settlement by giving Greenland a nice sounding name.
