I think it's Final Fantasy numbering, where sequels to individual games aren't numbered sequels but wholly new entries get a number.
Well FFX sequel was X-2 and both FFXIII sequel are XIII-2 and XIII-3.

Bravely second was an okay game, fun class system but undercut by one of the gameplay feature being defacto locked behind the streetpass thing (where you get stuff if your 3DS get close to other people 3DS that also have the game) and the fact that the game was insanely easy on normal. There is a hard mode but then the difficulty curve is all over the place, with a sequence where you go back to back from fighting a really important story character, and it's one of the easiest fight in the game, to fighting literally the hardest boss in the game, who's a nobody comic relief character and could be removed from the game without any impact. Very meh story and character in a pretty boilerplate world.

Well that is sad there. Me personally, I would not spend money on a two hour game, unless it has a really good gameplay loop, or really cheap.

I'll give Volition credit for sticking to their guns. Flip that coin, but be prepared for the consequences; especially if it plays or runs like shit. Hopefully, they don't make the same mistake that Ninja Theory did with DmC (2013) by insulting and pissing off their target audience too much. I have no interest, even if they stuck with the "gangsta" motif the series is known for. I rarely play sandbox games any more for a good reason. I wonder if my brother has seen the trailer game yet.

Yeah, looks like this won't go anywhere.

Here's some more behind the scenes and some honest to God footage. They should have started that to begin with. Character customization is still a huge feature.

Being a Korean myself, this trailer made me tear up a bit. For years I watched all the famous studios from Japan and China develop games that garnered a worldwide attention, while all Korea produced were small-time mobile games. Yes, we are famous for our teams in esports, but those were games made by devs outside of Korea.

Now here we are, a game featured in an international event, set in Korean landmarks, and gameplay that looks really fun. I really hope that this game does well.

I think the event was necessary.
I did not feel it was necessary, but I don't exactly mind it. As long as it's civil* over there and the kids learn something. Even so, there are other ways available. If it helps them jump start, then whatever. Other than, I feel Epic was misguided in how to do this.

Note*: From what I've heard it's pretty appropriate and civil over there, so that's a decent start.

The SR trailers get a resounding "fine" from me. Its honestly hard to tell from what we've seen so far but a reboot was the logical direction considering how there wasn't much place left to go after SR4 and GooH.

But man, the comments section for the first trailer......so much bile for something so okay.

Yeah, I get reacting to something different and not liking it, but they're going way overboard. I still say the reaction to the DmC "reboot" got way worse and volatile comments. The behind the scenes video has way less bile, and more restrained comments, but no one is exactly feeling the love. Once again, I have no interests in this, but Volition better pray it does not bite them in the ass.

I think it's the fact there's a lot of anger because SR is "SJW WOKE" now because......uh, reasons I guess. Or maybe those are just the really loud idiots.

I have no idea if it's gonna actually be good and I don't think we'll know until much closer until the game is much closer to actual release(so around Beginning of 2022) so It's not like I'm gonna step in and defend it. God Knows Volition has made plenty of Legit mistakes in the past few years. Gat out of Hell was a cool concept and somewhat lacking actual substance and apparently Agents of Mayhem was much the same problem.

If it's good, I'll pick it up. If it isn't, there's still 3 SR games I actually like for me to replay. Either way no reason for me to stress over something so trival.

So, I've never played Saints Row, but am I missing something? I thought SR4 went full superhero/sci-fi, but this is the one that people are flaming for not being true to Saints Row?

There's already a couple of rant videos like that. It only took less than hour for them to start appearing.

Agents of Mayhem was much the same problem.

Exactly. Though really, I felt the series should have rest completely after IV. Not much else to take the series other than rebooting or alternate continuity.

There were plenty of fans that complained loud about the series losing its identity with IV. They were just overshadowed by most fans that embraced the craziness. It's a case of vindicated by history and blind nostalgia goggles. This one is clearly Fornite inspired in terms of visual design, and the fact the protags look like obnoxious Gen Z stereotypes with "lame" (doing crime to pay off college loans and stuff) motivations, that it pissed off all types of veteran fans. Those fans come off as hypocritical, because the previous games, other than 4, were about cliche "gangsta" tropes, where the Saints weren't much better there. Only to become exactly like the Vice Kings, except everyone wears purple. By the third game, they might as well been friends with Mr. X or Belger.

Well if the old guard wanted a nostalgic throwback, they have left it at that and work from there since GTA doesn't care anymore. Instead they chose both the mutually safest and financially suicidal way to reboot the series instead of making a game about gangstas and ho's despite the supply being non existent

Exactly why the series should have stayed dead. It's the same problem of not reading room, and making the many mistakes of generation 7. Rebooting IPs that either didn't need it, or so many absurd changes, that the property has the title in name only, and might as well be called something else. Gen 7 had it worse in this regard with addition of trying to make everything "grim n' gritty" or "edgy" played so straight and serious.
