I didn't say or use the term cancel culture in this instance.I’m saving this hilarious take forever. Cancel culture is when you make fun of someone for believing the vaccine will make your testicles explode.
Also while unlikely if on some outside chance there is any truth to this then yeh a possible genetic component could come into play so yes her being concerned makes some sense even if so far the medical literature isn't supporting the idea.
We can all happily say the literature doesn't support the claim but part of actual Science is or should be the willingness to investigate and potentially be proven to be wrong. I don't think the literature will be shown to be wrong but intellectual honesty says yes it could be an insane outside chance, like my Aunt whose had a bad reaction to medication and it was found the cause is she's got a genetic condition that is so rare there's only ever been something like 53 recorded cases of it. Weird stuff happens.
They're not mutually exclusive.Because it is a thing happening in America that happens in America fucking constantly look out the goddamn window this shit is all America is and will ever be a bunch of idiots calling one another bigger idiots for believing mildly different takes on the same bullshit.
Edit: also you seem to have missed the point which I think was that people can’t both just be after personal catharsis of mocking someone and be trying to force them to change their opinions through shame (the latter of which definitely isn’t unique to Maoism).
Personal catharsis of being able to return to having their morning Starbucks and having to not wear a mask taking out their anger on those they see as stopping that and hoping shaming them will change things.
Also America wasn't always this. At least not to the level of it being the international image of the country.
