The problem will be that psych evals don't help if you don't make changes to the decision-makers beforehand. Otherwise, you end up with the current group of assholes using the psych evals to ensure all new cops are also assholes. We already have proof that they purposely weed out potential recruits who do too well on the entrance exams as an example.
This conversation didn't actually start between Crimson and myself; it started with Gergar12 here advocating for "universal direct democracy", and explicitly against both capitalism and socialism. He then clarified here that what that entailed was getting rid of almost all hierarchies (including vesting some people with political power via elections). Only exceptions he noted were for military, student-teacher, or parent-child hierarchies.
It's that contention I began to argue against, and then Crimson began to argue against me. I have specified over 10 times now that I am not against referenda existing. I am against "full" or "universal" direct democracy.

Optimistic about what, if you are in the middle east you are screwed due to climate change, ditto for Central America, South America's slash, and burning of the rain forest, South America will become a proxy battleground between US and China, and will see fights between left, and right. North America isn't faring any better, the US is heading towards the troubles like in Ireland, and faces a whole host of problems like Florida having a large sinkhole,s no water on the East coast for long periods of time making food prices higher, there are guns everywhere in America, in Mexico cartels still reign, and in Canada, there will be allotted more illegal immigration to it by Americans, and Mexicans due to their safe distance from the chaos down south, but their polar vortex, and climate change storms will affect them as well. If you're in Europe you have Russia to deal with, and higher temperatures, and lots of refugees which will come in increasing numbers from North Africa, and the Middle East, good luck being politically stable. Asia faces a geopolitical crisis and lots of typhoons, and Africa will face lots of water problems like in South Africa, civil wars, and high overpopulation like Nigeria where they are projected to surpass the US's population right now with much fewer resources.
You can't change the world, the current leadership, and elite have dropped the ball, and no destroying their graves in the future or threatening to do so in the future right now won't help. These people have no shame.

What we need to do now is simple, everyone compromises. This is to ensure no one really loses. Everyone has to give a moderate amount of action. Wealthy countries have to cut some meat, and consumption from their diet, developing countries have to cut some coal from their energy grids, and undeveloped countries have to lower their birthrates somewhat via non-forceful measures like birth control. Or else the alternative is a lot of death and destruction. And that's not even scratching the surface.
Yes, you cannot buy as much as you want, or power as many factories as you want, or birth as many people as you want. We have had lots of freedom on the individual, local, state, and national levels, and look where it led us.
And before anyone says no telling people in the global south that they can't have babies as much is racists, classist, whatever. I don't agree, they will literally have to immigrate, and trek to Europe, or stay in their countries and die in large droves due to climate change in the future. It's not fair to the baby, and I don't agree that people will just let them in, if even the EU is paying off Liberian warlords to hold death camps for migrants now, I shudder to think what horrible things will occur later.
