I feel like there must be something strange about ps4/5 hardware that makes them hard to translate into running on pc. Horizon zero dawn ran like shit for a long time on pc. I think they patched it but im not sure. Ff7remake is another one that doesnt work as well as it should when moving to pc.

Might just be because they stick denuvo or some pther bullshit into the code that fucks up the games. But it might also be a difficultly in getting the game to operate outside the playstation architecture environment. Which might explain why we srent seeing very many playstation exclusives getting ported over. And those that are getting ports are getting them slowly.
Maybe, or maybe not. Days Gone and Death Stranding were both PS4 only, but they both got great pc ports, excellent even in the case of Death Stranding. So it's definitely possible to deliver quality PS4 → PC ports.

I suspect a larger part of it is down to the developers porting these games, whether because of inexperience developing for the platform, or because they just can't be arsed. I believe Horizon Zero Dawn an example of the former, but to Guerilla's credit, they've put in the working patching things up, and the port is now pretty good (tho not exceptional). I believe that inexperience in its 1st party devs is the reason Sony has acquired Nixxes Software, a dedicated pc porting studio with a decent pedigree.

FF7remake tho? Yeah, I am pretty much 100% convinced that is the latter because A) Squenix has a reputation for bad pc ports, tho they can if they try (e.g. FFXV), and B) FFVIIR runs on Unreal 4, for which pc is the native platform. Unfortunately, being an Epic exclusive means Squenix won't see any money from sales of FFVIIR until Epic has recouped the lump sum they paid for exclusivity. So Squenix has little incentive to fix things.

Might be the case. Even though both PlayStation and Xbox share PC-like architecture, I think their development philosophies are different enough that it’s not a 1:1 approach to porting. If anything Microsoft probably designs with PC in mind first, and scales it for Xbox, whereas Sony’s devs are trying to squeeze everything they can out of PS4/5 dev kits, and any overhead typically accounted for in a PC environment isn’t entering the equation as much it at all.

Im sure the outsourcing to a porting studio is also probably a big reason as well considering these games are all built very differently and require different things to make a pc port work. Just because you get on game ported in great fashion doesnt mean they wouldnt struggle because of how another game is put together.

Square...god i wish i knew what their fucking problem was. Because the final fantasy 13 port is dogshit and i dont know why. There are a few exceptions like ff14 but even that has been rough because it will randomly have direct x errors for me.

All the more reasons as to why the PS5 has taken over my gaming completely. Pc gaming is too unreliable and too much of a headache to deal with outside of a few indie exceptions and games like Civilization.

Someone's developing a F-Zero clone, since Nintendo obviously can't be arsed to. Looks appropriately fast and fluid.

There's also a Star Fox clone in the works.

Might actually work out, assuming Nintendo doesn't send in the lawyers.

Fast RMX has been on the Switch for 4 years now. It's basically F-Zero. The game even has the same announcer from GX. I can see yours and everyone's frustration.

It’s funny how FF XIV is a popular mmo right now, but when it comes to pc ports of other FF games, square enix totally drops the ball!

China has already been clamping down on the rights and freedoms of their own gamers, where was this guy all along?
Ignoranceville and one of those dimwits that don't follow an inkling of the outside world. Then start acting "shocked", "surprised", or act as if they have some grand revelation.

Thank you. You brightened my weekend even more. I am getting Star Fox and Panzer Dragoon vibes! EX Zodiac looks to be the best modern Star Fox game ever made.
