We've taken on the task of "babysitting" my girlfriend's great aunt twice a week. She's a sweet and amicable woman, but she has dementia that comes and goes from minute to minute. She can't do much, so she basically sits on the couch, falls asleep until the early afternoon, then we find movies for her to watch. My complaint? She's basically deaf, so the TV has to be extremely loud for her to hear it. Then she talks through the entire movie, constantly asking question about what's going on, and when we try to respond, she replies with "WHAT?" because she can't hear us over the TV. Our entire afternoon is my gf and I yelling, then repeating ourselves even louder. This has gotten old.
Stop it; you're arousing the sickos, you sexy, beat-up and mangled man-beast!
I don't know why her daughter hasn't gotten her any. I think she's just used to the yelling by now. That, or the more macabre possibility, her daughter's not sure how many more "miles" her mom's got, and hearing aids are expensive, soooo....
You can add Sonic and Transformers hypersensitive fans to the list as well.

You know what's Ruined forever? A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens! It was fine as a book but then they turns into plays, movies(!), shows, cartoons! Bah Humbug, I say!
What I find hilarious about this is that Star Wars is so universally known and generally liked that probably a good half the world's population could be considered Star Wars fans to some degree. But apparently only certain fans are allowed to be "True Fans" and gatekeep what is and isn't "True Star Wars".
I'm happy to concede there have been misses with Star Wars of late, but frankly its fanbase aren't going to get sympathy from me until they have something like fucking Transformers: Kiss Players as an official, licensed thing that was sold for money and approved by any level of business.
I was wondering what you could have possibly considered to be worse than the Holiday Specials or the Ewok movies, but yup, that is indeed worse.
So here's a thing. I understand that there are problems inherent with self-driving cars- inability to deal with unexpected situations, moral quandaries (does it sacrifice the driver to save a bus full of nuns and orphans?), so on. But why do people keep saying "self-driving cars will kill thousands of people" without any acknowledgement that human-driven cars already do? Sometimes I suspect that the primary objection to self-driving cars is not knowing who to sue in case of an accident. Gotta know who you can get rich off of for that fender-bender!
If there's anything we've learned over the course of human history, it's that humanity sure does seem more comfortable with the idea of humans killing humans than anything else killing humans. Sharks, plane crashes, lightning, etc.
Yep, one shark attack every few years and people close beaches and go on shark hunts, one domestic murder a week and people don't care.
Creepy factor aside, the spiders are actually incapable of envenomating humans (their fangs aren't long enough to penetrate skin) and they likely won't even try unless you've got them trapped in your hand or something.
Sick of dodging pot holes! Certain places I go to have them filled, but there are just as many others that have not. I have no choice, if I want to get work on time, and without taking the freeway. The freeway is not really that much faster than taking the streets in this case.
I had to spend $600 on car repairs recently because this city hates doing road repair. Hit a pothole full of rainwater and practically destroyed the suspension on that side.
Yeah but they're going to give the other spiders bad ideas, assuming they haven't already and this isn't just a tactical invasion where the smaller more deadlier spiders are hitching rides on the backs of the parachuting spiders. Which I am assuming.
Self-driving cars are getting the side-eye because the inherent nature of giving up control and giving trust to something we don't understand that in turn, by it's very nature, is incapable of understanding us, is terrifying. Like trust falls, where you're expected to cross your arms and willingly fall backwards into someone's arms in the hopes they catch you? Another human can empathize and [hopefully] wouldn't let you hit the ground. A machine has no such capacity, and in the right circumstances (i.e.: malfunction or engineering miscalculation) would let you blow a red light and T-bone a bus full of orphans without so much as an "oopsie." Your tires might still be turning at 60mph when the ambulance comes to pry Timmy's corpse from carnage.
