Whatever, just wash your hands.
A new EVGA 3080 vid card. Finally came up on the ability to buy on for not a totally stupid price, still over msrp, but not horribly so.

Yeah, you say that but I'm gonna keep a close eye on my kidneys anyway.
Prices are going down, like I saw some cards on ebay for not that much more then I paid. I was kinda tempted to hold off since I think the 40 series will be out this year, but at the same time, no idea what will happen with availability, crypto seems to be on a down turn now, but no telling what will happen with that stupid shit. Plus russia being assholes and new covid variants could squeeze the supply chain again. So I just grabbed it while I could.

Don't blame you. With all the supply/demand issues over the past few years I wouldn't be optimistic about the next gen of GPUs being any easier to get a hold of at an acceptable price.

My car exploded so I bought a new car. I'm happy about the new car but I'm very unhappy with how fuqed this has made my finances for the foreseeable future.

I was really hoping the old car would survive six more months (when my student loans die and I'd have WAY more financial freedom, fuck college, stay out unless you are legally required to for your job kids). But alas, it was not meant to be so now I have six months of a screwed up budget to manage.

On the plus side, two people I know have said they've had a Nissan Sentra (mine is a 2019) and have loved them.

I bought Dawn Of The Monsters on PS4 earlier on the weekend. I'm already almost done with the game. I'll finish the last chapter when I get home.

I bought the medical removal my dog's upper left canine, I bought my mom a wheelchair, and I bought myself a trip to the dentist.

A lot of shitty medical emergencies this month.

Bought a house. It was outrageously expensive and not really what or where I wanted, but thats life.
! That's bigger than @Worgen getting a 3080.
Large number of kids in my orbit all getting to be that age simultaneously. I'm terrified for them. Asking for a 3 bed 1.5 cape is like $450K US around here. Then, sellers get 10% over asking price, no inspection. It is just insane. If I bought without inspection back in the day? I'd be dog food. 1st place we look at had a foundation falling apart. I would have missed it.

I'd love to hear more details about what you got.

"That's life?" What circumstances in life made you buy a house that wasn't what you wanted, wasn't where you wanted AND was too expensive? Those seem like the three major considerations when making a substantial life decision like buying a home. If you were in a position to buy anything, I'd imagine you'd also be in a position to be a bit more selective, but only you know your situation, so without more detail, my opinion on the matter (which doesn't matter, obviously) ends there.

Took me longer to find a graphics card then a house. Then again at this point I'm kinda done looking since I'm so sick of the politics of this state. Plus its hard to find one with a big enough room for VR and prices are bullshit.

Luckily, one kid boomeranged and is saving. We don't charge her rent. The other has a decent rental but is welcome to boomerang when the 1st one moves out... if she moves out. Imagine if she can save $100K in 3 years. That's still only 20% down on a $500K house... $400K loan... with interest rates surging.

At least the boy's gf is getting realistic and willing to marry at my house, I'd hope, next Spring. A 1/2 year ago, it was no way!

I can't speak if they've got specific life situations to add but right now the housing market is pretty fucked. Like...SUPER fucked.

I bought my house in 2018. The value of my house (according to Zillow at least, which is suspect at best) has gone up 62% (I don't think that's completely correct because it had my Zillow value higher than when I bought it but either way, the value of this home spiked considerably, even if it's not 62% spiked). I get on a weekly basis companies like Blackrock (they don't say they're from Blackrock but I can't imagine there's a lot of single families looking to give me market value in cash for my house right now) because they're trying to buy up basically everything they possibly can so they can rent them for stupid high prices (pricing out people who want to actually buy the homes).

If you're unfortunate enough that you're forced to buy in this market, you're competing against multi-billion dollar buyers with straight cash going above market value. So as a "normal" borrower, you're forced to either accept a crappier home in your range (as all property values are spiking because of these companies), pay way above market value for a house you should have been able to afford at a normal price, or most likely a bit of both. It was a little bit easier when the rates were so low (since the average buyer could stretch their money a little bit further) but now rates are starting to go back up.

I do not envy anyone having to buy right now...

Oh, I understand all of that. My issue is that none of the three major boxes were checked: not where they wanted, not WHAT they wanted, AND too expensive. I understand concessions have to made and you might not get exactly what you want in each of those areas, but NONE of them? That's like a straight man wanting to get into the porn industry for the opportunity to screw a bunch of hot chicks, but settling for being an unpaid "catching" intern in gay bondage porn, i.e.: if your only option is exactly what you DON'T want, find another option! I'm saying, it makes more sense to me to rent an apartment in an area I like and hope for something better to come up than signing a 30-year, too-expensive mortgage in a house I don't want in a place I don't like.

Again I don't have enough details, and to each their own, but "that's life" leaves a lot to the imagination when signing up for a potential life-long commitment I know I don't like.

I'll let them speak for themselves since they'll obviously have more info (assuming they decide to devulge it) but unfortunately...yeah, the market IS kind of that fucked where you might not get any of those three big things but are forced into it :(
