Then how come they don't do it.

Ok let me pose this question. Why is it the customer's responsibility that employees are treated fairly? Why should the customer try to be in control of something they obviously can't really control?
What do you think the folks at A Better Activision Blizzard King have been doing? Meanwhile the only video game union is Vodeo Workers United (formed last year) which was accepted by management so didn't have to have a vote. Seems things are going pretty well at Vodeo Games, but obviously not at companies more actively hostile towards unionization. And if lawsuits like State of California Vs Activision Blizzard continue to turn up abuse, you can bet lawmakers will start looking into regulating game development instead of only game content.

And while I agree that it is not the sole responsibility of the customers, they still have a part to play in applying pressure. If for no other reason than it feels like a dick move to knowingly sustain the problem, even without any responsibility toward starting it.

JFC, They actually thought people would love the specialist system, so much so to make the next BF game a hero shooter. Thank god they backpedaled on this decision, but to think they were considering this.

I'd say for the last decade or so, DICE has continually shown that the egos of individuals in the company have more weight than community feedback or, well, logic. It started with small things in BF4 (seriously, that the fucking counterknife mechanic wasn't instantly removed after the beta is insane), then a couple of eyebrow raising decisions in BF1 (never got around to liking what they did with the gunplay), to the up in your face "don't like it, don't buy it" mess with their alternate universe WWII BFV. And now we have BF 2042.

It's funny, their culture of stubbornly sticking to their guns was passed down to the new staff, but not the skills and knowledge to work with Frostbite and make decent games.

I'm glad there's actual people out there trying to make things better or acknowledge the problems with the industry and do something about it.

Suicide Squad just keeps getting delayed. Glad I'm not interested.

I agree Phil, now can you please have the company get off its ass and make games that aren't stuck in the OG Xbox or 360 era?

Remember when they teased a Fable game....i wouldn't hold your breath. Microsoft is so good at developing games you guys.
I would say my big bro would be disappointed, but I don't think even he cares at this point. He's a big fable fan too.

I do hope they mean lack of developing an RPG, and not the lack of playing RPG. Because I think we can all agree everyone plays RPG at some point in their lives. If not, at least go play older Fable games and take some notes.

Crypto companies can just buy game devs and their games to push NFTs now I guess.

Developer Good Luck Games was this week acquired by cryptocurrency company FTX, which plans to add NFTs to the free-to-play game.

Currently players can buy access to heroes and skins using real money, but they now fear how NFTs may be integrated and are review-bombing the game on Steam.

Good Luck Games addressed the use of blockchain technology in a press release, though no specifics are given beyond the integration being "ethical" and based on fun.

Still, the game's reputation has tanked in the last few days since the acquisition, according to this Resetera post.

Steam reviews have tanked.

There, screenshots from the game's Discord server show fans asking the devs further questions about NFTs.

"To be clear we are going to explore non-cosmetic angles," says content director LSV.

In another response he adds: "We are going to explore a lot of different things, when (if) we find something we like we will share more."

Players have responded negatively on the game's subreddit, with one moderator even leaving the server.

"As a personal note, I really enjoyed playing the game and I would have liked to see other monetisation methods attempted prior to opting for NFT/blockchain funding," they say. "I don't agree with the decision so I'll be removing myself as a moderator."

"Whelp, it's been fun. 1400 hours in the game. Uninstalled and changed my steam review today. Real shame the game was a ton of fun but I won't support NFT/Crypto," reads another comment.

The many negative reviews on Steam almost all cite NFTs as the reason for their post. Until now the game had mostly positive reviews, but only 22 percent of reviews in the last 30 days are positive.

"Crypto and NFTs. Nope," reads one review, simply. Another reads: "Good Luck Games was acquired by FTX, a cryptocurrency company, as a way to 'help crypto make inroads with gamers.' I want no part of that and I don't want crypto 'making inroads' in things I'm interested in. Uninstalled."

This is just the latest example of a backlash against the inclusion of NFTs in a video game. Even developers aren't interested in cryptocurrency, according to the GDC State Of The Game Industry survey.

What happened to the old dev teams? Were they sacrificed to the underground well of tormented souls before they could unionise?

I'm not sure. I don't know if Peter Moloneux even makes games anymore. I don't recall them ever announcing Fable vets as part of the dev team for the new game. Hell all we ever saw was a teaser trailer and nothing ever again....nothing except bad news.

And of course EA is pushing a new Battlefield because they'll never actually fix a game. They just put out shit and move on, if it sells great if not, whatever.
Apparently, they originally planned to have the next game as a hero-shooter, because they thought the specialist from BF2042 was gonna be hit. Yeah, that's not happening anymore.

So at least there's that

well let me breathe a big sigh of relief for that. It's still going to be buggy, broken, and boring because they don't let the devs have enough time to actually make anything decent.
