No. Their job is filled with corruption but this person is acting as if they're somehow better than a youtuber. The fact they even brought this up shows that youtubers represent some kind of "threat" in their mind's and so they feel the need to justify themselves whereas before they wouldn't even have considered them worth thinking about.
I think that's almost literally true. He was a respectable figure (except when he wasn't) and people liked him. Sure, he's probably technically doing illegal stuff, but he's a nice guy, you know?
Yeah that doesn't strike me as a mark against the guy complaining about it. Might make him a hypocrite since specialist coverage sectors are and always have been rife with backhanders.
