Two very different flavors though. We might as well compare Castlevania with SMB because they’re both technically platformers.
Right but how many games does Nintendo make that are overlaps with other game they make?

Zelda is action adventure
Mario is platformer
Mario Kart is racing
Smash is fighting
Splatoon is Shooter
Pokemon is RPG
Metroid is side-scrolling vania thing

Nintendo doesn't really make more than one game to fit a given box. You can argue that there is a little overlap between games but that overlap is never a dominate part of both games. Zelda has platforming, but it isn't a platformer for example, in which platforming is not a focus of the game the same way it typically is in a Mario title.

WipEout is slower paced? Even on WipEout's Phantom settings?
Slower in comparison to F0. Granted, I'm more so talking about the original PSX games. The newer games that came out on PS3 and was later ported to PS4 is on par with F-Zero GX, depending on the mode you are playing.

For some reason Shigeru Miyamoto thought there was room for both though, as there was and still is, so who’s gonna argue with him?

That's all well and good, but Mario Kart and F Zero are still two completely different style of racing games. Mario Kart is more casual friendly, and F0 is not. F0 is harder to learn and tougher to master. Especially if you're playing GX.

I remember seeing kids and teens trying to play games like the first Contra, Castlevania & the first Mega Man like Mario. They end up having a bad time. The ones that did anyway.

I was not expecting this. Jaguar games being on the complication definitely threw me in a loop. Hopefully they can get Alien vs. Predator on there.

The first NES TMNT game was hard by poor design decisions and fake difficulty. So that's a bit unfair. The game while having a great soundtrack, was a rushed product. If you're playing the Japanese version, which has a completely different title, it's a lot more fair and easier by comparison. Though you still made your point. Keep in mind that these two videos I showed you are from the mid 2010s.

It's called go to the park, or gym, and play basketball.
I WANT REAL VIDEO GAMES TO DO IT FOR ME! REAL LIFE IS TOO HARD! I WANT IT EASY!

You know I don't think that is intentional though.

Part of the reason why video games feel easier as time goes on is that back in the ATARI/NES days, people were still learning how to many games. All those hard, badly designed games came from a new format that people were still trying to learn the basics of. Game design is hard and as video games aged, designers learned a lot more do's and don'ts about it.

So yeah, NES games were designed like ass, but the vast majority of developers were new to the concept of game design and programming. Even good games on the NES had very stupid bugs and design issues back then.

Key word there. REPLAY. Been there, done that, hated it, don't wanna do it. And I complain about FFX's minigames because I've done them before.

You're obviously joking, but even if you weren't, I would still have a foundation of having gone through the bad shit anyway. Which is different from the people who cry about Souls being too hard and don't actually play through the games. They quit and complain before even getting through the trama.

I am more than aware of all that. Doesn't make it any less bad. Everyone makes mistakes, but it's better to learn from them than to learn not. There are many others that have missed the point, or refuse to change and believe that's the only way to make challenging or difficult games.

No, the article explains it's because of a rights dispute.
The substitution is a result of Bandai Namco’s attempt to keep Ms Pac-Man out of its games until it resolves an ongoing dispute over rights to the character’s royalties.

Ms Pac-Man has always had issues regarding royalties – the character isn’t an official Namco creation, and was instead created by Midway (who had been given the rights to produce Pac-Man products in North America) and a group of US programmers at the General Computer Corporation (GCC).

As a result, any time Ms Pac-Man has appeared in Bandai Namco products, GCC is reportedly owed royalties.

The situation was exacerbated further complicated in 2019 when AtGames, a company that specialises in mini retro consoles and handhelds, released a Ms Pac-Man mini arcade cabinet, despite Bandai Namco claiming it never gave permission to do so.

Bandai Namco sued AtGames, who one week later did a deal with GCC to acquire the Ms Pac-Man royalties interest allegedly owed to it.

Since then, Bandai Namco has seemingly made efforts to ensure that Ms Pac-Man doesn’t appear in any of its games, so as to avoid further complicating the royalties dispute.

Back in those days, home console games were often created by arcade-game designers, whose primary concern was getting quarters/100-yen coins out of the pockets of kids. (And of course there were devs like LJN, who just basically shat out games without caring how playable they were.) There wasn't much in the way of "we want to challenge gamers" sentiment back then.

See, this plan sounds stupid on all accounts. The players can simply choose to use third-party voice chats or mute everyone. And players can always make alt accounts to continue talk shit.

I guess competitive games will never not have toxicity, and I'm glad that I am forever done with that genre
