Endoscopy didn't show anything save for the tear in my esophagus; no ulcers or anything. And the stomach aches wasn't "killer" by any means; I think I might have eaten something bad the previous day, and putting those couple of bites of greasy pizza into the mix caused the vomiting which caused the tear. But thanks; I feel fine now. Still haven't pushed it in terms of spicy foods, but my diet is otherwise back to normal.
Well shit that’s a really messed up chain reaction. Yeah it’d certainly be enough for me to stay away from greasy shit for a long while. I realized I can’t eat ice cream as a night time snack anymore, fucks my guts up. Oh well I don’t need the sugar anyways.

During a MS Teams meeting, a coworker offered a heads up that leaving our laptops plugged in/docked for long periods of time can cause damage to the internal battery, and that we should start unplugging them occasionally and let the battery deplete. I recognized that I'd not unplugged my laptop in MONTHS, so as a precaution, I unplugged it. it went to sleep, and I was unable to turn it on again. I called our IT department, and after several minutes of me giving and repeating my credentials to the tech, we finally got to my explaining my issue. I made it very clear that as my laptop had ostensibly died, I didn't have access to my email, so someone needed to CALL me to tell me where to bring it (since COVID, our home office has moved to a temporary location; I don't know where it is or even if our IT department is there.) I missed almost a full day of work Thursday and half the day today as I literally could not do my job without my laptop. I finally called them back, and of course, they had emailed me the fix Thursday despite my expressing very clearly that I didn't have access to my email (it requires a soft token only accessible from a company-issued laptop to access from any other device.) Apparently, these HP laptops can go into a "deep sleep" which requires you hold the power button down for 30 seconds; I've never heard of such a thing as a 30-second long-press; who would do that with a device that's not responding at all??

Long story short, I'm having to catch up after missing a day and a half of work because our IT geniuses can't follow simple instructions despite being notorious for acting as if we're the idiots, and they know better than the rest of us. The snooty b*tch I got on the phone this morning had the nerve to catch an attitude when she found that they HAD emailed me instructions on how to restore my shit before I reminded her that my issue was that I didn't have access to ANY company assets, least of which being THE EMAIL THEY SENT.

I don't own a dog, so I must ask, if this does happen with your dog, would you not immediately rush them to the vet? I'd be concerned about the plastic shrapnel inside the dog.
If your dog can eat bones then cheap overpriced plastic is no problem... in which case the worst you'll probably face is stepping in parti-coloured dogshit. Unless the dog is visibly in some discomfort or ends up constipated, rushing the dog off for treatment is like running up to the vet and throwing a fistful of $20s in their face. Sure, they'll take the money but they'll wonder what the hell is up with you.

There's a distinct possibility the dog didn't even eat the plastic it chewed off, just spat it out and kept on chewing for the sake of chewing on something.

I hate that iPhones have two separate volumes; one for ringer and one for internet stuff. So even though I turn the ringer all the way down, the media volume will still be full of whatever it was last set at. This is fucking stupid because it means you can only adjust it after something starts playing. Yup, just being on the internet isn’t enough to prompt the media version of volume controls. so you get to treat anyone nearby to an earful of some bullshit youtube add or something.

While we’re at it, why do they only give you a bloody sliver of a text window when in typing mode. FFS, nothing confirms mobile will never be as user friendly as an actual computer with a screen as when trying to edit anything. Not only that, but even on this site you have to pick your battles. Sure, portrait mode might give you a smidge more screen to see what you’re doing, but then the “keyboard” gets reduced to the “You better have praying mantis-like fingertips, motherf*cker.” size, which for me means fuck you and your hammer thumbs.

It also removes things like thread pages and alerts from the top of the page, so you’re constantly having to rotate your phone to make it even half as functional as it would be if I’m using an actual fucking kb/m at my desktop.

Samsung isn't much better, at least not with their Galaxy line, AFAIK. Not only is media separate from ringer volume, notification volume is separate from ringer volume! From time to time, the two will adjust together, usually when turning it up from silent or vibrate, but 9 times out of 10, I find myself adjusting my ringer volume, then having to tap into the expanded volume menu to adjust the notification volume to match it.

OT, I'm about to burn my refrigerator down. When I press a cup into the ice maker, it churns and churns, dropping one cube about every 4 seconds, and right when I've got the exact amount of ice I need, it decides to shit the bed and drop 6-7 cubes all at once, usually directly onto the floor where they shatter and spray small pieces of ice across the kitchen. I can find the big chunks, but walking barefoot or in socks, I find tiny puddles everywhere for hours. Fuck that fridge.

Ditto on fridge lol. Sometimes I’ve been able to jostle the ice a bit in the bin to make it spit out more evenly, but if we ever empty it for a cooler or something it’ll be hit or miss with the refill. Not sure who makes the best fridges these days but wouldn’t mind a reliable upgrade, with a filter for ice!

Ok, I get ending your youtube video with asking people to support you on patreon. It's not like asking people to "like, share and subscribe" cause not everyone has a patreon.

But it always seems to take about 30 seconds to do that, which is fine if the content is about an hour long, but when it's 1 min, that's a third of your video.

I have been noticing lately that the percentage of time that is taken up for ads in videos is getting higher and higher lately. Some are so long that when they finish, I'm shocked at how long the scrubber bar is already.

Okay, I am dealing with a serious lack of focus or memory issues or whatever this is. It started from the small things like I'm reading an article, okay. Not too long, not difficult to follow, I already know a thing or two about eCommerce, so it's all good. But no. I go to make a cup of coffee and that's all it takes. Cannot find the mysterious paragraph I last read and basically have no clue whatsoever what I read before. Then it progresses. The other day someone here mentioned LotR (the dreadful day I realized it's been 20 years since it was released) so I decided to watch it again. There were a few sequences that I didn't remember at all! And I don't even know how many times I've watched it! And finally, today I couldn't remember if I've already put sugar in my tea. By the time I replied to a message, my brain decided not to give me access to this information, so naturally, I ended up putting it twice. It better be all the stress taking a toll on me and not early signs of dementia.

Not good, but there's loads of things that could cause that that aren't serious or long lasting. Happens to everyone every so often.

Thanks, I needed to hear this. Still, I don't think I'll wait for much longer before I go and see a doctor. Of course, perhaps a vacation is all I need, but why risk it.

Ah but what about when they're in the midst of a destructive hurricane tho? Surely, surely there's no better time to remind ppl to like and subscribe?
