Watch the Double Toasted video. They've been hate raided three times. The only reason why now Cory mentions this, is because he wants to keep a professional. Thankfully, he actually has moderators that do their job and are great at what they do. Most people aren't so lucky or have no moderators at all.

First I am not shocked that Twitch ain't doing shit. I mean they supposedly have a PG13 platform supposedly and they let that cheesecake hot tub girls run wild cause moolah. No one should shocked they are not going to do shit about these hate raids fucking with peoples money because its not affecting there bottomline as per usual. It would be funny if it wasn't expected.

I agree that "Why not play yourself?" is a legit question to ask.
I want to chime in on this. I think spectating is as much as part of the gaming experience as well playing the game yourself. Now when I was growing up we still had some arcades holding on despite most of them dying out. And a major thing was when someone was good or close to winning you got a crowd around and everyone watched and it was like they were a part of the experience despite just watching. So the natural evolution would lead to lets plays and lets play would lead to Twitch and people being able to make money off this. So I think you can experience a game while not playing it and the spectator end should not be dismissed or have its nose turned up to.

Exactly. There were many times in an arcade when I and many other spectated depending on the game. I don't understand why Adam Jensen has a problem with it, nor gets it. If you don't like something that's fine, there's an audience and niche for many people.

For me the natural evolution of arcades is fighting game locals and events, not streams. I think the difference is most people who spectate at locals also play themselves and they aren't only watching. That is more engaged and meaningful. But it's not like streams are bad or anything of course. To me streams are more like a performance you put out as opposed to just playing and organically attracting an audience. In an arcade people aren't trying to entertain the crowd gathering, they're just playing to play.

Fighting game tournaments and streams all fill the spectator role of the arcade of time gone by. Fighting game locals and tourney are just another branch in the tree. And I disagree games have become more complex like some people enjoy lore of a game but not the gameplay, people want gameplay and don't worry about silly reading and context and many like a nice balance of both. Engagment and meaning is up the personal preference.

I would say the fact that there's quite a few games with "stream support" lately that give ways for the chat to interact with the streamer should show that playing and watching a game are appealing to different desires in our minds.

Good, the protests and walk outs are screwing up Twitches viewership numbers.

I don't know what's going to happen afterward, but it is not looking good for Twtich when they do this.

I don't get the point of watching a live stream, there's so much content that just isn't good in a stream. The only time I watch "streams" is the heavily edited videos that are like 10-15 mins of probably an hour+ of streaming of all the good bits.

I think the streamer market is starting to crumble a bit. Because what happens is that the vast majority of people that stream make nothing or damn near nothing. The top 5% of streamers take all the views and revenue from the sheer countless other streamers. Then these big name streamers get revealed to be pieces of shit and it hurts the entire industry as a whole.

Top that off with Twitch making no money of streaming what so ever. You think, "oh twitch is making hand of fist off these streamers" but that's not really true. The biggest money for streamers is sponsers, and sites that aren't even twitch. Either through paypal, patreon, or onlyfans. By diversifying their incomes they've crippled the service that hosts them.

Now Amazon can surely afford to support it even if it makes nothing, but why should they? There has been nothing to gain by owning Twitch, just controversy and drama. From raw gambling, to bikini girls, to streamers literally fucking SLIGHTLY off-camera. Top that off with the big incidents with streams running scams, ripping people off, outright illegal activities all broadcasts openly on Twitch, and Twitch itself doing nothing about any of it.

At some point the Twitch streamer economy is going to fall apart, especially if Twitch does nothing to help boost new and upcoming streamers to spread out the potential subscriptions.

Online casino streams are going bye-bye at least. The drama has been wild for the past week. A relatively minor sexual assault incident from years ago suddenly gets brought up over personal quarrels between large streamers TrainWrecksTV (casino streamer) and mizkif (more of a variety gamer). Not because of the incident itself, but because mizkif put together some sort of coverup for his good friend (the perpetrator of this SA, another streamer called crazyslick). A bunch of other parties have come out with their pieces of information on the matter and now we've got to witness long """investigations""" on what basically amounts to "who started it?" so they can find who to blame.

Gambling took the hit from another streamer unrelated to all of the above: sliker. He came out as a gambling addict who had borrowed hundreds of thousands from his friends and other streamers. He has lost all of that money, of course. Though I think a lot of it went into sports betting along with online casinos.

The rabbit hole keeps getting deeper. I never knew about any of this.

Also funny enough now that the casino streams will end, I wonder if the Finnish streamer 'hukkaw' will move back from Estonia. Taking gambling sponsorships is illegal here so the guy doubled down and took a one-way across the bay a couple of years ago.

A lot of streamers seem to be very upset with Twitch at least. Like... one I know called ShyLilly would get banned because of her Vtuber avatar and doing lewd things on stream yet some other streamer can literally have sex on stream, get banned, COME BACK, and then do it again. It's just so inconsistent with its rules and so much content just disappears whereas on Youtube people have video backlogs to continue getting attention with so they don't have to go at it hard all the time. I'm just repeating what I've seen and heard as I'm not a Twitch viewer.

Like, here's a video. I don't know how much of it is true or whatever, but I do know that several streamers I know of that use Twitch were liking it so it at least gives you an idea of the sentiment people are feeling about Twitch right now.

The inconsistancy of enforcing the rules has been a big bug bear with Twitch for a long time. I don't know if a bunch of people on their staff is just a bunch of simps or what, but there have been several streamers that got banned for even talking shit about the titty streamers. Meanwhile Amouranth shows her pussy on stream, Alinity flashes the camera, and other girls even outright get FUCKED on stream, and it's totally fine. Tiny bans, slaps on the wrist and nothing more. Meanwhile no forgivence is given to other streamers (mostly male) whatsoever.

Many big streamers called it out as well including Destiny, xQc, Asmon, and more.

It's not that people care about getting banned for violations, it's that nobody can tell what the rules even are because they are not enforced in a consistant way. Twitch, and Youtube both fail badly in this department, however Youtube is a bit understandable due to the sheer size of Youtube. But Twitch has no excuse, there is not enough streamers fucking around to have such a random rule enforcement. Not to mention people are super eager to report fuck ups on Lifestreamfails and the like, most of the clips end up on youtube funny enough.

IMO, Twitch needs a restructuring, and they need to makea few decisions regarding the platform.

1. Decide what content is allowed on the platform. Bikini titty streams were once illegal, hell non-gaming stream were once not allowed. Now it seems anything goes. That can't be the case. A clear outline of what is allowed on Twitch needs to be declared and explained clearly to everyone.
2. A new ToS. Like with #1, they need to make decisions on what streamers can and cannot do on stream. Including but not limited to, how they dress, how they interact with their audience, streamers responsibility of their chat, how streamers are paid or can be paid, and so on.
3. Non-streamer users, aka just people who watch, also need to agree to a wholely enforced ToS. A streamer shouldn't be at fault if you run into a stream and spam bullshit, or racist/homophobic slurs or whatever on their stream. The chat system should automatically detect and ban you from the entire website full stop. That way issues like when minority streamers got bot spammed with racist shit wouldn't happen becuase the chat system would automatically detect, delete, and ban that shit.
4. And then simply be consistant with enforcement. A female streamer shouldn't be able to flash her tits, or be sexual ojn stream, nor should a male streamer. There is a difference being someone finding you sexy, and you making sexual content on stream. Unless of course they decide to allow it as per Number 1.

They will allow it. And y'know, it is how it is. Big companies can't make online streaming as focused as it used to be, so you gotta just leave the door open for almost anything.

Nobody wants a sort of strict "Twitch Law" written into the TOS. Everybody wants ban appeals to be taken seriously and most of the time people don't want permanent bans to streamers. However, as everyone also knows at this point: Twitch staff has a type of content creator that they treat favorably. Like, intercourse on stream... But frankly Twitch and the rest of social media space has become less and less "pure" in the past few years. OF thots use all possible outlets for self-marketing, because why not? The market for that is still ripe.
