Just as some pedantry, Peterson does not have a medical licence, as he is not a medical doctor.

He is a clinical psychologist; this is usually the highest level of psychological therapist and is in many countries both a protected and regulated job, as medicine is (whereas any old unqualified quack can claim to be most other form of psychological therapist). I assume this is the case in Canada. So he's losing his clinical psychologist licence. He may, however, still be able to practice "therapy": just not as a registered clinical psychologist.
I still find it a bit wild he's having his license revoked essentially for having the wrong kind of controversial opinions on social media.

It's probably more that he's having a very public meltdown and is being deemed unfit to provide mental healthcare. Dude's been having shitty opinions for years, now he seems genuinely unhinged.

I remain neutral on whether Peterson has actually exceeded acceptable conduct: let's bear in mind that his hearing is yet to come and he may be cleared.

But I might suggest you read up carefully on standards expected from healthcare practitioners in many countries, as they place particularly high premiums on trust, responsibility and competence. It's not hard to look at some of Peterson's social and political commentary, and particularly the tone he expresses it, to have legitimate concerns about whether he appropriately represents a caring profession and would be a safe practitioner over vulnerable individuals. What might Peterson do with a client who he thought had the "wrong sort of... opinions", based on his social media performances? What image of clinical psychology does Peterson give the public, particularly troubled people who need therapy?

Good clinical practice is where it's at. The reality is that "free speech" doesn't necessarily go hand-in-hand with good practice, and this is where regulation matters. Professional regulators aren't there to protect general, societal standards of free speech, they're there to protect professional good practice. If that means stripping the licences from people who don't exercise their societal rights of free speech in professionally responsible ways, so be it.

Still plenty of votes to fail! You can't come out with your money shot on failure #14. Gotta build up to it. Tease the audience. Give them a little taste until they're practically begging for release...

Edit: Awwwwww 😞 Evidently he got a few Republicans to vote PRESENT to drop the required votes needed. Which makes me question why he had to fail 14 times before trying that...
Because if he did it the first 12 times, Jefferies would've won as he had the most votes

Yeah, I looked into more and realized that. He got a few of the holdouts to move over and then he pulled a politician move on the rest and just made it so their vote didn't count :D

I suppose I should have updated my post but then I didn't...

I wonder what significant political event was happening last year that would make wealthy business owners want to hype up crime statistics?

I will say props to Keven McCarthy. Someone had to be the weakest Speaker in US history, and he bravely accepted. It takes real courage to proudly walk up to your wife and say "I did it honey, I'm the bottom rung on the political ladder. Everyone gets to dunk on me, and I'm the bare minimum by which everyone will judge themselves better than me."
That's a brave man there.

Bold of you to assume he'll confess that to his wife and not his favorite hooker.

I'm not going to congratulate someone on their sharpshooting skills when they paint the target on their own foot.

I mean, Trump didn't get a second term because of controversial opinions

As part of every single contract I've signed, the company places a clause about appropriate behaviour in public (which includes Facebook, Twitter, etc). I have been handed a breach of contract and been threatened with firing over much less than what JP did even before he became famous.

It's called capitalism. If you want 'free speech', might I suggest a different economic system. Until then, everyone gets punished for what is deemed as bad behaviour by your BOSS. It's how religious schools (and many public school in the US) still get to ban homosexuals or trans employees

It's only cancel culture when the right feels bad about it. When the left feels bad about it, it's "facts don't care about your feelings"

I have sympathy for those who feel like they can't speak their mind. But, like most things the right does, it blames the wrong target. If the right was not going to back lefties when they get booted off Twitter, why is there a demand for the left to back the right when they get treated the same.

Dorsy said some racist and homophobic stuff and, now that we have the Twitter files, we know he gave special treatment to conservatives. He was never a 'lefty'
