Yeah that's a good way to put it.Auto-immune disease. They're trying to defend themselves but are just attacking their own "cells".
I don't play DND, I've never played DND and yeah, this just feels shitty regardless. Yeah, I know tabletop suffered from the pandemic and such but gouging your user base is not the way to fix the problem, WOTC. I don't think they can afford to alienate their existing userbase. They are ruining Magic the Gathering, AND fucking over DnD content creators which are the biggest pushers and free advertisers of DnD products. It's like they are trying to kill themselves.
I think this is the root of the DnD problem. Because in the pendemic a lot of online services that allow people to play DnD together online flurished. Things like Role20, Discord, Tapletop Sim, there are tons of apps with different prices that brought in a lot of money probably. And Wotc, or rather Hasbro, is upset they aren't getting any of that money.I don't play DND, I've never played DND and yeah, this just feels shitty regardless. It boggles the mind when we've spent like the last 30 or so years moving a lot of commence online and instead of realizing that's where the market is headed, some businesses are like "Nah, we're gonna just ignore that completely and pretend it's not our problem". Sure, some companies are gonna do it better than you, but if you aren't even gonna try you're just letting them eat your lunch.I think this is the root of the DnD problem. However instead of making the official, definitive, and ultimate ease of use DnD online system so that they can bring paying customers to DnD virtually. They are attacking all these LONG LONG LONG standing services and trying to suck money off them.
The most they did was developed a online system for the rule books and digital character sheets. Which is actually a good system tbh, because it allows players to dynamically keep track of their sheets on a tablet or something right at the game table. But in terms of online playability of DnD, they've done fuck all.It boggles the mind when we've spent like the last 30 or so years moving a lot of commence online and instead of realizing that's where the market is headed, some businesses are like "Nah, we're gonna just ignore that completely and pretend it's not our problem". Oh Nos!
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!!
I dunno. Given the way places like YouTube are going, I wonder if we're not at the beginning of a shift away from online. Restrictions keep increasing and I think it might not be too long till we see the real world be preferable to the coming stranglehold on the digital one.It boggles the mind when we've spent like the last 30 or so years moving a lot of commence online and instead of realizing that's where the market is headed, some businesses are like "Nah, we're gonna just ignore that completely and pretend it's not our problem". Ubisoft should just give up now and do something else. Never cared for Skull & Bones, but this is sad.

They're gonna keep pumping out AC games(there's like 4 in the pipe right now) and Far Cry games. Probably Divison 3.0 as well. I've given up on seeing anything else from them at this point.Ubisoft should just give up now and do something else. Never cared for Skull & Bones, but this is sad.
The Wild West came to an end in real life also, expecting the digital one to keep existing was a fool’s errand.I dunno. Edit: In case you are unaware. They changed their policy again and have started knocking down videos left and right for not being "family friendly" enough with things like language.
You're so good at dropping in with the perfect thing to say. Is it possible to learn this power? The Wild West came to an end in real life also, expecting the digital one to keep existing was a fool’s errand.
Indeed. They probably saw the lukewarm reception and decided maybe it's not quite ready yet.
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!!!
What I hope is they see the bubble of live service games bursting and are re-evalutating their game models to be less shit.Indeed. They probably saw the lukewarm reception and decided maybe it's not quite ready yet.
Or they are trying to monetize the game further.
The fact that the current build of the game seems to have less content than the Sea of Thieves launch truly speaks volume about its quality. What I hope is they see the bubble of live service games bursting and are re-evalutating their game models to be less shit.
Dream big or go home.
