Auto-immune disease. They're trying to defend themselves but are just attacking their own "cells".
Yeah that's a good way to put it.

I also think it's the parent company Hasbro's demand that they double revenue every 5 years, which isn't really possible in the market that they run.

That's why over the last 8 years, Magic sets have become more and more frequent with more and more scummy prices and collector's editions. And it's no surprise that they are now going to canibalize the DnD division because Critical Role makes millions and they want some.

The problem is that they've made increasingly more insane changes to new DnD under the guise of "inclusivity" and whatever, from banning terms to rebranding and even completely re-writing DnD lore. And people aren't really buying that shit. Which is funny because no matter how many of these companies try to pander to some "politically correct" environment, they keep failing and yet they keep trying. They are like soldier's in a trench that's getting picked off by a sniper. Everytime a guy pops his head over the edge he gets popped, yet none of the other dude's learn and they pop their head up only to also get popped. Instead of trying something different.

More on Netflix's Kingdom: The Blood

Look, I'm glad my country is getting more recognition, and I always love new takes on soulslike combat.

But this looks horribly made. It's a souls game made for both mobile devices and pc, with the typical premium currencies and difficulty-based stages that you cam find in almost every mobile games. I'm kinda annoyed this game is gonna be cross-platform, because that means graphics, gameplay, and content is gonna be in that weird valley between a mobile game trying to be a pc game, or a pc game trying to be a mobile game.

I can definitely tell this is gonna be f2p, or god forbid live-service.

They are ruining Magic the Gathering, AND fucking over DnD content creators which are the biggest pushers and free advertisers of DnD products. It's like they are trying to kill themselves.
I don't play DND, I've never played DND and yeah, this just feels shitty regardless. Yeah, I know tabletop suffered from the pandemic and such but gouging your user base is not the way to fix the problem, WOTC. I don't think they can afford to alienate their existing userbase.

I think this is the root of the DnD problem. Because in the pendemic a lot of online services that allow people to play DnD together online flurished. Things like Role20, Discord, Tapletop Sim, there are tons of apps with different prices that brought in a lot of money probably. And Wotc, or rather Hasbro, is upset they aren't getting any of that money.

However instead of making the official, definitive, and ultimate ease of use DnD online system so that they can bring paying customers to DnD virtually. They are attacking all these LONG LONG LONG standing services and trying to suck money off them.

It boggles the mind when we've spent like the last 30 or so years moving a lot of commence online and instead of realizing that's where the market is headed, some businesses are like "Nah, we're gonna just ignore that completely and pretend it's not our problem". Sure, some companies are gonna do it better than you, but if you aren't even gonna try you're just letting them eat your lunch.

The most they did was developed a online system for the rule books and digital character sheets. Which is actually a good system tbh, because it allows players to dynamically keep track of their sheets on a tablet or something right at the game table. But in terms of online playability of DnD, they've done fuck all.

I dunno. Given the way places like YouTube are going, I wonder if we're not at the beginning of a shift away from online. Restrictions keep increasing and I think it might not be too long till we see the real world be preferable to the coming stranglehold on the digital one.

Edit: In case you are unaware. They changed their policy again and have started knocking down videos left and right for not being "family friendly" enough with things like language.

Ubisoft should just give up now and do something else. Never cared for Skull & Bones, but this is sad.
They're gonna keep pumping out AC games(there's like 4 in the pipe right now) and Far Cry games. Probably Divison 3.0 as well. I've given up on seeing anything else from them at this point.

Ubisoft: "Beyond Good and Evil 2....."
Me: SIT THE FUCK DOWN, UBISOFT! Nobody fucking cares anymore, not even you!

The Wild West came to an end in real life also, expecting the digital one to keep existing was a fool’s errand.
