"Mysteries of London" is believed to be the most read work of fiction in the 1800s. It was a penny dreadful published in serial format, starting in 1844. The first chapter really gets stuck in about the massive disparity between the rich and the poor in the capital of the British Empire.

Karl Marx first visited England in 1845. He could have read it early on in his career.

I'm not saying that the user manual for my treadmill is a victim of poor translation, but this is a direct quote from the "Relax" section:

"The reductive action should be done for 5mins after practicing every time. Especially extend flabby for ministry muscle.avoid muscle long-term condensation, and keep muscle flexibility."

Isn't extending my ministry muscle a sin?

So last week I came across a video from a Paper Mario speedrunner named Stryder7x, I liked it looked through some of the other videos on his channel and decided I'd like to watch more later so I bookmarked it. But now, when I go to the channel it redirects to someone named Alberto Rodriguez who has 22 subscribers and no videos. What's even going on here? I can still watch his videos when I search them on Youtube, but clicking his profile always redirects to Alberto. It's so bizarre.

Ok, equipping troops with bicycles used to be a thing, before motor vehicles were common and horses were still quite useful. Even in WW2, messengers would ride bicycles.

But British Home Guard on roller skates?!

So the nor'easter that rolled up on the, well, northeast last night knocked out my power for five hours. But I found that the LED nightlights I have in a few spaces for late-night visibility were still on- barely, glowing at about ten percent of their normal brightness. They gradually faded until finally giving up the ghost half an hour later. Was there a transformer somewhere that was still discharging a slight current? I have no idea.

The boring one
Meanwhile, among the humans :

“Someone paid me £500 to read out Chiles’ column in the Guardian while performing a sex act on myself. I thought at the time: ‘This is weird.’” Weird, Mike? Do you really think so? He’s getting paid more for doing what he said he was doing while reading out my column than I got for writing it.

The last sentence kinda says it all -

“Florida is the lightning capital of the world and lightning safety is important – if lightning is strong enough to melt rock, it can certainly melt people too,” added the researcher.
