There are definitely still types of clickbait wording able to get under my skin. But come on now, fess up your esoteric secrets, abacus druid!

Jonestown has been a bit of a blind spot till recently. Only thought it was a band name for years lol. But is just another horrendous US religious cult massacre. Even a US politician was killed with their press team during visit.

(A weird coincidence that fcked with me at first is the surviving daughter is now called Tracy Diaz, which is the original name of one prominent OG Qanon influencer 'Tracy Beanz" who was elected in South Carolina because America. But also resigned some time after because also America! Not the same person tho, thankfully)

Conservapedia has a "greatest conservative movies" page, where each film is supposed to have a short accompanying summary of why it is so. Usually is always down to if any movie portrays various predictable reactionary validations: promoting straight family values/bonds, capitalism rules, west is best, (public) education and teachers are evil, black supremecy is totes as bad, abortion is evil, extremely selective approval of redemption arcs, etc etc - a whole lotta bad takes written poorly. But some are extra special;

Close Encounters of the Third Kind1977PGMakes this list because of a hilarious, anti-mask scene in which the actor Richard Dreyfuss is riding on a bus where everyone is complying with a government order to wear a mask, whereupon he rips off his mask and declares that there is nothing wrong with the air.$135,189,114
A consistent observation throughout all their opinions is the film's ultimate message does not matter one single bit. Only whether enough scenes portray stuff they agree with on even the shallowest level. Yeah, you know Fight Club was gonna have to be in there one way or another!

Fight Club1999RFight club is considered to be a "conservative classic" for audiences mature enough to handle the violence and language. It argues against the idea that society can alter or control our basic human nature. One of the characters rants against consumerism which has led liberals to believe it is anti-capitalist moral, but don't be fooled. In reality, it's pro-self-governance and anti-consumerism moral. We can't fill our happiness with buying things. It's pro-masculinity and warns society of the dangers of trying to suppress masculinity and promotes assertiveness and strength in men's minds and bodies.
The story is about a nameless first-person character (Edward Norton) who is stuck in an unwanted job and life, who attends support groups to deal with his insomnia and depressed emotional state. He runs into a female romantic interest around the same time he begins associating with "Tyler" (Brad Pitt) where he gets embroiled in an underground fight club and soap making scheme.

Have you heard of the expression "drunk the Kool-Aid" before? Even though it wasn't Kool-Aid as such, it was a cheaper alternative.

Ah, yeah heard that loads. Is just... *nervous collar adjustment* I assumed it was merely a reference to the brand maybe being overpromoted in the US in the past or something, instead of mass cult suicide. 😔

Yeah, its a grim etymology but when the context people use 'Drink the Kool Aid' being to fall in with cults and shit, it makes way more sense.

This should be required viewing for everyone. The food industry needs to be put in the spotlight like tobacco was.

As an aside -

How pathetic can ‘Merica get.

That's just the tip of the iceberg really, especially with regards to the Standard American Diet (SAD). We in American actually made the standard fast-food combo meal even unhealthier by promoting Beyond/Impossible burgers and replaced the one healthy thing on it, the burger, with something super ultra-processed instead. The American government been telling people to eat wrong for 50+ years at this point. Look at all the misinformation on the CDC - Healthy Eating page with such bullshit that saturated fats are bad or dietary cholesterol is bad. They are even telling you at the bottom to make an even unhealthier version of mac and cheese by using no/low-fat milk and cheese that they say is healthier... The American Diabetes Association has whole grains listed as a diabetes super food, you literally can't make this up. Pretty sad when South Park (flipping of the food pyramid) has better nutritional advice than official government sources.

I am a Naval Architect with submersible design training. You show the implosion as in crushing a can. It was way more violent. The atmosphere in the vessel was suddenly compressed by the pressure. It greatly heated. Think diesel engine times 20+. At high pressures and temperatures, air (O2 and N2) become reactive, and "burn" (combine into NOx, explode). Pressures get even higher, and a gas bubble forms. The pressure and temperature of the water cools and collapses the bubble. So the collapse is three events: sudden high pressure, an explosion, and collapsing of the gas bubble. Extreme mechanical violence lasting fractions of milliseconds.

The only good thing about it is that the people inside probably died before they could feel anything.

Anyway, Apparently Pyromancy is a real thing, kinda.

Unfortunatly, instead of being really cool and allowing you to throw fireballs, it's basically just divination via watching flame, which honestly is a bit of a let down.

Apparently there's also Ailuromancy, which is apparently divination by watching a cat....do cat stuff. Yeah, I think it's just an excuse to watch cats really.

So basically stuff like Flame of the Fell God is what happens when Miyazaki practices a virtual form of divination. Awesome.
