Fundamentally, people see a very rich and massively tooled-up nation smashing the shit out of poverty-stricken people it dominates in contravention of international law. Act like a tyrant, look like a tyrant. How do the pro-Israel lobby think this is ever going to end? Propaganda only goes so far, because people can very clearly see who has the real power here. There is perhaps an irony in terms of the ADL, because that nice, fluffy, tolerance and respect, anti-imperialist ethos that we've spent decades inculcating in the West (and which the ADL would think to be a part of) is fundamentally opposed to how Israel behaves. Really, if they want to lobby for Israel whilst it wields the whip, they need to get us back into a imperialist mindset of hatred, intolerance and dominance but ensure that Western populations view Israel as one of them not one of the other.snip
I have a great deal of sympathy for Jews, irrespective of their political orientation, facing antisemitism. Although this is intensely depressing, inevitably the actions of an entity have repercussions for the reputations of those closely associated with it: just consider the outpouring of Islamophobia after Al-Qaida committed 9/11. If they want less antisemitism then the answer is to rein in Israel, because it's the behaviour of Israel that is hammering the global repuation of Jews.
