Why would that help?
I don't think I've had the reaction to any of the previous 50 or so episodes. The missus too.

It makes you cry that they had so much money that could have been used better by different tv makers?

I've never seen it, but it's a common reaction to high profile stuff these days.
IMDB typically giving it 8-10 ratings. Most difficult thing in watching it is that the wife keeps asking me what the Royal Family actually does. I tell her legally, they can dissolve the government and take charge of England themselves. But as they don't, what do they do? So far I tell her they're like super diplomats, travel agents and a tourist attraction. I imagine with their billions, they are an investor class all by themselves.

AFAIK, they can't, but every law that gets passed needs "Royal assent", so in theory they can stop the government doing anything. For as long as it takes for people to google how to DIY a guillotine, so they don't do that. Places like Australia or Canada have someone representing the crown which gives royal assent as well. Apparently some 20 years ago, a law was passed in Australia that shouldn't have been, some legal steps were accidentally skipped, so when they took it to the Governor General to give assent, they asked them to not give assent. So they were able to redo the law properly and that got assent.

And yeah, they've got zillions, but how many is kept quiet.

They busy themselves with media puff pieces to indicate they're one of us, despite clearly being elevated to some idiot level purely because they exist within a certain bloodline and we live in a country of moron sycophants who fawn over the flag and cry themselves silly over the goings on of an elite group who don't even know they exist. They act like they understand that they've been born with immense and unfair privilege but clearly don't understand that at all, or we'd be seeing a lot more wealth sharing and a lot less noncing.

Different country, but our setup is very similar. All laws can only be enacted with a royal signature, which in theory they are allowed to refuse, but in practice this never happens. With one exception back in 1990, when Baudouin refused to sign on religious grounds, what with being a real Catholic kadodder. Our constitution has a provision in the event that the monarch is unable to perform his royal duties that the government as a whole will instead assume the role of head of state. So they declared him unfit to rule, and signed that law themselves.

I'm guessing the UK probably has something similar in place.

I wonder if this is a borrowed concept as the US President is required to sign bills into law or lacking that signature, be considered a veto, which congress has to go through a lot to over-turn the veto.

I may actually kind of be in the middle of a health issue right now. About an hour and fifteen minutes ago I was working when I suddenly got hit by an intense dizzy spell (to the point where my eyes couldn't focus on anything), and had to go sit in my bathroom with the light off until the worst of it passed. I'm still feeling a little dizzy and light-headed as well as nauseous (at levels you'd expect for feeling dizzy), but I'm not seeing any other symptoms- no facial paralysis or slurred speech, etc.- so I'm just gonna take it as a sign to take it easy and drink some water for a while.

Yay biology and stuff.

Get your blood pressure checked maybe? Hope all's well (or, rather, gets better).

I have a BP tester. I'm actually reading kind of high but I'd bet that at least part of that is a stress response.
How much sleep are you getting? Were you getting up from sitting when it happened? Dehydrated? Getting enough vitamin B? It could be a number of things. Might be time for a physical if you haven’t had one in a while.

Take care of yourself. Please see a doctor soon if this keeps up. Got similar issues myself.

I've been sleeping okay... ish, probably a little better than I have in a while at least. I was sitting when it happened, I don't think I was dehydrated (I've had that happen before; I didn't notice any of the usual signs), and... I have no idea if I'm getting enough Vitamin B. I had a physical earlier this month and I'm going to be getting bloodwork done before my next visit in February. I'm definitely calling my doctor if I show any more signs of an issue, but right now I feel like this was a one-off thing.

Brain uploading when, science?

I honestly appreciate the concern from everyone. :) (Also you're doing the same, I hope.)

I am a numpty who managed to delete my entire primary Steam folder and then render it unrecoverable, so now I'm redownloading games. Thank goodness for cloud saves. (I'm going to either replace the game drive or just outright build a new system sometime soon, so it's not the biggest of deals, but boy do I feel like a moron.)

I nearly missed a phone interview today because Verizon decided to have an outage in my area and my phone went into SOS only mode EXACTLY when my interview was supposed to start.

Fuck you Verizon.

Ended up being able to email the recruiter and have him send me a teams link, and thankfully I was his last interview for the day so it was fine that we went over time. Second interview is scheduled for next week.

I look forward to my video interview also going awry when Cox has an outage and my internet stops working.

So, shit's getting really swampy over here in the Netherlands due to all the rain we're getting. It would've probably been snow if we still had winters over here, but we don't anymore, now our winters are just autumn but sluttier.
