Honestly, why did these guys even bother if there's going to cancel and fire everybody? Don't answer that we already know the answer. I'm being rhetorical here. I can't believe I'm saying this but also these properties are better off with Square again.

Apparently we'll also get to see more on the Elden Ring dlc, Kingdom Hearts 4 gameplay, and Silent Hill 2 remake as well.

And I am hoping to see more pc port annoucement. Bloodborne I gave up a long time ago, so maybe GoT or GOW: Ragnarok port?
Rumor's are buzzing about getting an FF7 Rebirth Demo, which makes me buzz.

Honestly, looking back SE doesn't seem that bad as long as they don't touch live-service, NFT, or outsourcing too much. I can't remember all the reactions, but I think most of the people celebrated the franchises being sold to embracer after SE blunders at the time.

Fuck Embracer, though

I mean they talk a lot of shit about NFT's but NFT's have crashed and they've done nothing but talk. Every live-service they try fails miserably so maybe they'll learn the lesson. Outsourced studios also make dogshit so again....lesson learned maybe?

Now Square is jumping on the AI bandwagon and claiming how they're going to put AI into everything and in their creative works.

Shrug. That's not automatically a bad thing.
Yeah, I'm not looking forward to that. I disagree big time. Especially when you're trying to replace creators and actual talent. Well I don't think they'll take it that far, I'm not trusting them on any of that. You already got a bunch of executives in Hollywood and the game industry trying to replace actors or voice actors, with or without their consent. I'm not leaving anything to chance.

IMO AI art and creations are going to happen. And artists should be spending time learning and embracing those tools instead of crying foul. You cannot and willnot stop the progress of technology, so it is up to you to learn the tech that invades upon your job in order to make sure you keep your job.

So any and all artists should be using AI to train and develop their own AI models that replicate their artistic style (whatever that style is). Then you can learn to use this model to further enhance your style AND train it to be even better and uniquely you. That way you not only get to keep your own artistic thumbprint in the art itself, but you also have knowledge of the AI tools to use and create things for companies or whomever is paying you, at a much faster rate.

Think about it this way. People use to have to use a shitload of scratch paper and careful pencilwork to do math, whether that's taxes, sales and transactions, personal finances, payroll, etc. Now we have computers and the math gets done far faster than it could ever be done by a person and the whole world is greater for it.

AI Art will eventually be the same thing. It will not replace artists, it will simply improve their output (so long as they embrace the tools) and allow more Art into the world. Which I can't see as a bad thing.

Especially when, like I said, the artist can train the AI to be exactly (or close) to them. Then there are other tools in the AI kit to allow for brush ups and redo's of certain sections. Getting a clean AI picture still takes quite a bit of effort.

Not that AI can't be useful, but let's not split hairs. Most of these companies are using it just to cheat out artists and other creative talents. That's all there is to it. They can be a useful tool but it shouldn't be an end-all and replace all crutch to screw out those on the creative end. It's not a problem for you. But it will be, because no one is exactly safe from this except those benefiting off that at the top. They just want lazy engagement and high numbers. Just without all the effort and actual heart and soul put into it. You're not changing mine or most sensible people's minds on this so I don't want to hear any of it. Already heard it all before and you are saying nothing new. All you're doing is falling into a griffin scam because they couldn't do nfts anymore.

I mean sure, they want to use AI tools to reduce the number of staff. But let's not pretend they don't fire people by the hundreds all the time anyway. And quite honestly if you can maintain a smaller art team with these tools you could end up with a consistent art team that works much longer term as a result. So instead of 200 people on the art team which you fire most of them when the game is done, you instead have 50 people on the art team that just jump from game project to game project. It could be a reasonable solution to the layoff and over budgeting problem.

Sure. And we've yet to see how these tools get plugged into a game. That remains to be seen.

Supposedly Palworld used a lot of AI but there is no real proof of that, and there is one thing that you have to remember.

The customer only cares that the end result is good. Nobody actually gives a fuck how a game is made, they just want a good game. So people can cry foul all they want but the truth is, they don't actually give a shit. If a game comes out that is an absolute banger of a game, everyone will play it and nobody will care. People can grandstand and pretend to morally give a shit, but at the end of the day, they would rather play a good game than hold their ground.

Happened with Hogwarts Legacy. Happening now with Palworld. Next controversial game that's also just fun to play will have the same result. You know it, I know it, everybody knows it.

There's a difference. Palworld still has effort and heart put into it. As for Hogwarts, I am mad people having fun with the game. That was never my issue. My issue was people being attacked for liking the game or having issues playing with it because of the person the money goes towards. Though the second option got it worse than the first and were attacked for the opinion as well. Once again AI can have its uses, but it shouldn't replace everybody or people who put creative thought and efforts into their writing, their drawings, animations, or whatever creative work. AI cannot replace the human heart and spirit and thought. This is all the case of corporate greed trying to be cheap at the laziest way possible. We've already seen how it doesn't work and how even Disney screwed up with that art piece they released a few months back. The one for Thanksgiving. Everybody knows how everything was off from the start, and even people who didn't know much about AI knew something was up with that painting. I'm sure as hell not giving up on this nor those with actual talents. Voice actors don't want this, actors don't want this comment and people with planes common Sense do not want this. We'll all fight no matter what. You can do whatever the hell you want. On hearing is another punk ass excuse of nothing we do matters. It doesn't matter to you. It matters to a lot of other people.

And I don't think it will. AI can't do shit without being told by a real person what to make. Right now at least, and self creating AI is probably a LONG way off still.

So IMO AI art tools are no different than an artist picking up a pencil, or paintbrush. Nothing can happen without the Artist to create it, review it, and refine it.

I don't know why you have to consistently use absolutisms and block yourself out from even attempting nuainced conversations. It's fine you have your beliefs and opinions, but you are also so quick to shut people out "Don't even reply to this I wont hear it." Or "Nobody can change my mind!" And it's just so odd. It's not about changing your mind, it's about seeing the other side even if you still don't like or agree with it. You can at least hear people out and see where they're coming from to understand why they hold the perspective that they do, instead of sticking your fingers in your ears and going "lalalalalala!".

Whatever makes no sense to me.

And you keep acting like it's no big deal. Once again I didn't say all AI was evil,. I know where nowhere close yet, or that still doesn't accept stop and excuse the people abusing the system and trying to replace everybody or do things without their consent. That is my major issue you always keep doing this thing where it's either "don't see the problem, or it's not a big issue". You're the one that's been doing the la la I can't hear you bull crap. You've done this more than once. Especially where you're getting involved with a lady's life that you have no control over and acting like you're her father. A certain twitch streamer if I remember. You're going on about how you didn't care and playing la la I can't hear you for good minute. So you have no room to talk. Big time.

It was like Embracer Group heard people saying "nobody could be worse for these IPs than Square-Enix" and said "hold my sobia".

Man, they just keep waving those red flags
At this point, Suicide Squad has more red flags than a Chinese national pride parade.

That's it. Now they've gone and made this personal!

Just read interesting bit in destructiod about Suicide Squad review codes while looking for them, apologies if already been posted and I missed it;

In the weeks leading up to the game’s February 2, 2024 release date (hey, that’s soon!), we’ve heard more and more about how press outlets are not getting code. We typically have issues with sorting WB due to our historical criticism of the publisher’s handling of…well, you name it…but it seems like every other major outlet also does not have access to the game in any capacity.

IGN’s Destin Legarie even shared his frustrations this past weekend, noting that his negative preview (you and practically everyone else’s!) could have led to a lack of access, but it goes deeper than that. Legarie contends that the game’s sponsored stream over at IGN had major quality control issues (like characters straight-up not showing up in cutscenes), and alleges that community managers (CMs) deleted comments critical of the game. Many of my peers are in the same boat, and no one I personally know has had access to the game prior to the early access launch. We went through a similar process with Gotham Knights.

Not exactly as simple as *making artists’ lives easier*. There wouldn’t be protests and strikes in Hollywood if that was the case. The real inevitability is that it cuts out people wherever possible, because people are overhead. Sure, there are techies who build/fix the robots that put cars together now, but all those robots used to be people. Now the shit is moving into the creative fields. These digital hatchetmen can only pinch so many industries before winding up with collateral damages and unforeseen consequences.

You know, the funny thing is how all these billionaires will lament the falling birth rate, and keep saying shit like, “We need to have more people!” To do what exactly? What good is adding to the quantity when the powers that be are actively quelling the quality of life for those already here? We pump all our most advertised “food” full of shit that adversely affects fertility rates, causes heart disease, various forms of cancer, diabetes, etc. and then overcharge people when they need medical attention and the often equally if not more toxic prescriptions to deal with it.

The problem with our society is that nothing will change for the better unless the ones pulling the strings are also the ones feeling its ill effects. They’ve spent decades slowly poisoning the well but sure as hell aren’t the ones drinking from it.
