As for Covid. When examining mistakes in regards of handling covid its important to ask why. Why did they get it wrong? Did they get it wrong because its a new virus and they are trying to find their footing? Or because they're dangerously irresponsible.

Not because there was anything that pointed to this, but because Trump just didn't want to do anything about it. Even the extremely unlikely scenario of Trump ''just wanting to avoid a panic'' hinges on Trump not wanting to take his responsibility as a leader and try to take the nation by the hand.

But there's something more malicious at hand too. Trump is a demagogue and the key trick of the demagogue is that they trick their base into thinking that they alone have any legitimacy. To the Demagogue they themselves are the sole political entity with legitimacy. That's why fellow politicians, journalists and the courts all need to be broken down, because they are a risk to the demagogue's ''unique'' place in the nation as the only legitimate actor. And this partially explains Trump's opposition and hatred of Fauci. Because if experts have the answers and we need to follow their advice then suddenly the demagogue is NOT the only actor with legitimacy anymore.

B) Quarantine (i.e. take a sick day)
C) wear a mask so you don't spread it

You can't claim someone's intend to overthrow democracy was valid just because it didn't work. Other demagogues like Orban or Erdogan didn't topple democracy in their first terms either.
