This whole thing is an optics shitshow. People who are voters will look at that and want even more measures against migrants. At some point despite what I want, and what many pro-immigration supporters want. People are going to have to accept the fact that it's going to be a miracle if the US has a population of 400-500 million people by 2100.
Immigration is a nuanced issue. Not everyone even on the pro-immigration side is pro-open borders in the sense that everyone in the world can hop on a plane and get to the US, and or go across a US border into the US. That could make the US have a China-India-like density, and while I would love that, most people don't. If the US were to hit 1.5 to 2.0 billion people by 2100 we/US would have a monopoly on economic, military power, soft power, and innovation would increase alongside it. We wouldn't even need the EU, India, or China as an ally to do so, and if we had the EU, NATO, India, and so forth in an alliance bloc the West would be unstoppable against authoritarianism.
But we aren't building our infrastructure like that. We aren't building lots of skyscrapers, investing in nuclear fusion plants, and making the top 100 largest cities in the US like the top 100 largest cities in China. The R&D and investment just isn't there. I doubt even AOC as president would allow America to swell to the side I and other radical immigration supporters want.
Therefore Biden is going to have to play games with Texas and the GOP and pretend like he opposes this when he doesn't.
