Im a little mad at myself this was not an end of the world need, but oddly work related so I may end up doing some tax deduction this year

I brought down and bought an i7 14700 and board. Im actually only maybe 3 years behind but Im running into some issues, not with gaming but desktop.

For work I run

* multiple chrome browses with 5+ tabs, also Firefox
* slack, teams, outlook
* pulse, global protect
* postman, putty, securecrt
* Microsoft office excel, PowerPoint
* bunch of other rando applications
* triple monitors

I reeeally wanted to go amd but the problem is amd only makes good gaming cpus or good productivity cpus. So I finally broke down and went to intel because while pricing isn't competitive their procs do both balanced. Idk building the new pc tomorrow.

As for the mouse its to replace my aging rival 650 whos battery dies like every other day.

( yes thats a vewlix L running Project Justice, yes I am show boating.)

The remaining components needed to build a PC after a friend said he could gift me a case and RTX 2060 for free. I can't believe I'm back to doing this after swearing off Windows and building rigs, but I'm missing out on titles I want to play and games to play with friends, and the PS5 doesn't justify itself even slightly compared to a PC.
In the end I spent maybe the cost of a PS5 itself getting all of this together, so it balances out the same way. But oh, to be back into this world again... God help me.
But hey, I got it to post without any problems on my first try, which was a surprise

A circular saw, electric planer, battery and charger plus a couple of 6x2 MDF. Going to be building some shelves into odd corners in my kitchen and making sure my doors finally shut properly.

An Xbox Series X on an angry impulse. Maybe I can enjoy my last few hours of Elden Ring with load times under 45 seconds. I'm also looking forward to the latest PGA Tour Golf game; haven't played one since that atrocity that was the "Rory McIlroy instead of Tiger Woods" one from 2015.

I'm in the current gen, guys! *slow, pathetic clap followed by uncomfortable silence*

I got a brand new laptop from Microcenter. I got a Lenovo. My old, refurbished HP laptop from 2018 can't cut it anymore. Loving it! I can game on it too!

American Truck Simulator for $5 on Steam. It’s gotten good praise and is probably the closest I’ll get to my childhood dream of driving one of these fuckers, so yeah. Haven’t installed it yet but maybe this weekend.

Welcome! Not really a purchase but an acquisition: kids gifted me a Nintendo Switch OLED in 2024! In theory, I'm current gen too now! Till November :). Pricey. I have 1 game for it so far, the newest Zelda which cost me $70! I'm interested in if/when the PS5 Pro becomes a thing, which may be in November as well. Or never. Gaming is changing a ton, especially if you have good Internet. As for Xbox, I'm playing a lot of Microsoft games on my Xbox 1X and new PC build. The Series X looks like a great piece of hardware but I feel like MS is treating it the way Sony treated the Vita. But sounds like you have a lot of access to games you already own so, enjoy the better performance.

My last purchase? Guess we were invaded by critters this year. My daughter's car wiring got eaten by them. $5K in damage.
Then I went to start my outdoor AC unit a few days ago, no go. Critter (mouse) ate a wire from the power source in my house that goes to the unit. $200, phew. Not too bad but still, after telling her, my daughter asked if we could do a mouse apocalypse as what the heck are they good for? I told her predators like hawks like 'em. So they got that going for them.
