Again that's just my estimate and the price can very; I.E. Someone may already have a 4K TV, wamt to purchase an extra SSD, choose or not choose to get dis drive or the vertical stand etc. But essentially it looks like for the price point alone PS5 Pro doesn't seem all that different from a gaming PC?
You're right on the money. Crazy thing. I got a Lenovo gaming laptop for $300 dollars back in May. It's got more going on for it than the PS5 pro.

I feel like we are once again seeing the graphical console war from the the late 80s - mid 90s; From the bunch of AVGN episodes I've watched, my understanding is that due to the heavy marketing on the graphics/performance of these consoles, it disillusioned the consumers from realizing what games are good or bad?

But this time, the publishers are using already-successful games to showcase how "powerful" these consoles are.

Digital Foundry recently confirmed that PS5 PRo is equivalent to RTX 4070:

Okay, so $700 at first doesn't sound too bad in that regard, but let's pretend we want the disc drive and the vertical stand, also want to get a 4k tv. That's gonna be $810 + $300-500 for the TV. I kinda feel everyone is gonna want the disc drive at least, not sure on the vertical stand; So we're looking at around $1070 minimum. Oh but you gotta pay for that PS+ subscription as well, which at minimum will run you $10/mo. So for about an year of use, we are seeing $1190 total.

Again that's just my estimate and the price can very; I.E. I feel gaming pc do have a bit more advantage here; Lots of third-party sellers to get games cheaper, no need tp [ay for extra subscriptions, the option to upgrade each p[art instead of getting a whole new system, etc.
4k tvs are actually cheaper nowadays unless you want the OLED types, I got a basic one for like 250. 55" too. Now if you want a 4k gaming monitor, for like competitive stuff, yeah that's in the 500~ range.

But yeah the idea I think is you trade in your ps5 and that halves the price of the pro. But if you don't already have a ps5 at all then yeah not worth it, just get the basic one with the disk drive.

Also I heard running the ps5 vertically reduces its lifespan, so you may not wanna actually bother for that unless your arrangement just doesn't have the room to put it down.

The vertical position has been the “cool/hip/trendy” way to do it since PS2, but it’s also always been the same above story (whether lifespan or disc drive issues). I’ve always had/made the room to lay it down, and the last couple consoles I’ve set on .5” bumpers to give better airflow and heat dissipation underneath.

At least with the ps2 you could actually twist the playstation logo on the disk drive vertically too when you shifted it. Though yeah I never actually had it that way either.

@CriticalGaming, you're going to want to hold off on buying this until the game is fixed. They fucked up. The 7th generation versions are still the best way to play Lollipop Chainsaw.

New Battlefield game!

TL;DR:
  • Modern setting, set in somewhere in Europe from the concept art
  • Supposed to follow the designs of the Battlefield 3 and 4
    • This means no more 128 players
    • No more Specialist
  • Four studio collab; DICE, Motive, Ripple Effect, and Criterion
So it's a start I guess. But then again this is EA we're talking about so I'm sure it's not gonna be all sunshine and rainbows

Somewhere in there a developer says "we wanted to try something new", and that was their primary mistake. Battlefield players just want a prettier coat of paint on what they're already used to.

A more accurate analogy would be that, yes, a new coat of paint would be nice, but it would be swell if they didn't remove the fresh tires and leather upholstery they installed just last year.

I can't think of another franchise that has shown such an inability to actually iterate and improve on their games. They throw away brilliant ideas from previous games, or give up on poorly implemented ideas that had lots of promise. This isn't even a 2042 problem, they've done this for every game since Hardline. However game development is being handled at DICE, clearly it is the wrong way.

I get the desire of wanting to play the same game but with new stuff added to it, since for the fighters I like I already am happy playing the old version. Like they literally just released a capcom collection where the newest game is just the old mvc2 game from back over 20 years ago but with netplay and some bug fixes (no Gambit glitch!) and it's great. They just added rollback netcode and didn't fuck with anything else.

I think the issue is with games like Battlefield they can't ever just do that, they have to fuck with the old formula somehow, be it either taking stuff out or changing how it works in a fundamental way. Either because the new stuff they wanna add can't work with everything in the game already or just cause of misguided creative approaches. Either way, they should take a page from fighters in that regard.

Man imagine if one of those platinum holding accounts also has the silent hill PT demo on it too. That'd be like the holy grail.
