Hilariously, while the remake of Dragon Quest 3 changed male and female to body type A and B during your character creation, in the actual game itself (meaning you have to actually play the game to notice this, so this would be missed by anyone who'd complain about the gender options being male and female, as these people don't play videogames) there's tons of gender based gear. Like a dress type body armor will say "this item can only be equipped by women". So the game is maintaining its original normal gender norms that it always had, it literally only changed what it called them during the char creation process. If you pick body type B, you're a woman as far as the equipment is concerned.
Which begs the question, why change this at all if it's just for optics but not mechanics? I dunno, this is giving me the image of a dog chasing its tail into perpetuity. Utterly pointless.
