Recently I've joined the PC Master Race and now for the first time if someone were to ask me what is the best way to get into gaming, I would first ask them how much they want to play Nintendo exclusives and/or on the go (handheld), and if they say no to either, suggest a PC instead of any console.

One major thing is that both the current-generation XBox and PlayStation are basically cut-down multimedia PCs in weird custom cases. You're not even getting the benefit of specialized console hardware anymore.

I stopped caring for graphics right around late eighth generation. So long as the game has a good looking or great looking art style and plays good, then I'm fine.

I like nice graphics, but above everything they have to service gameplay. I have raytracing enabled in Forza Horizon 5, but in a limited fashion, so that I can keep the framerate pegged at 144Hz for buttery-smooth responsiveness. And I spend plenty of time playing things like Minecraft and modded STALKER and Doom.

It's why I preferred arcade style racing games that don't rely heavily on realism nor realistic sports. That's the best part about steam: I got arcade racers for days.

I know they're separate john rose, and that's the problem. These type of games have taken over the AAA industry. All for the sake of not damaging these cars too much or barely giving them a blemish. It hurts the advertising in eagles of these stupid car companies and mmanufacturers. Raycevick pointed it out last year. I get they have an "image" to preserve, but all these cars get totaled in different action movies and TV shows all the time. What makes video games so special or the exception where they're not allowed to have fun with this? It won't hurt their brand much at all; they know this.

I like Origins and Origins only, but I gave up on the series (and EA published games entirely) after DA2.

And conversely DAII is the only reason I like the franchise at all. Ain’t life fucking weird?

According to pat: Origins aged the worse. Especially when trying to play AP. C. Version or get it running. You need a CD key code to a website that no longer exists. I'm so glad I never got into this franchise.

Always wanted that in a car chase game, because learning the tracks as you circle them over and over bores me. Same peripherals and physics as a racing game, but dense cities full of realistic street traffic and pedestrians. Not about going really fast. Think more Bullitt and Ronin. Defensive driving is more the focus. You can't step out of the car. The character is only on two feet in cutscenes. Points deducted for the deaths of innocents.

The other problem is that they are trying to be JP Disney. They will control almost all, if not a whole lot, of manga, anime, and light novels being sent over to the US. Corporate consolidation is shit, but Sony is in particular worse than Microsft. Sony bribes game companies to not sell games to both Xbox and PC; they are very anti-consumer. Look at Helldivers 2. It's only available in 80 countries, and you need it to play even fucking single-player games like God of War. It's not even about the exclusives. I will eventually get the stellar blade and FF7 Rebirth. I am fine, relatively speaking. It's the 100+ countries that don't get to play Sony games because they can't even have a PSN account that are the problem.

Of course, Microsoft is anti-consumer in that they are one of the few companies that were sued by the fed government for being a monpoly. And I want ChatGPT, MS Azure, and even Excel to have competitors. And for that to happen, we need regulations and standard best practices.

For example, the SQL programming languages for Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle SQL, and Postgres all have similar querying syntax due to regulations and standard best practices. There's also the community aspect of it; programmers all use open source to share information with each other. If everything in programming was closed source, nothing would get done. If they didn't all use the same rulebook, the SQL community would be segmented, businesses would have a harder time hiring people, and the overall economy suffers.

If there are fewer people playing Elden Ring 2, or the PS5 fanbase plays earlier vs. the PC fanbase, and of course the Xbox fanbase screw them, right? That means the community becomes less dynamic and more polarized. There are fewer niche builds and fewer people sharing playthroughs at the same time period. That means everyone suffers, even the PS5 people who are celebrating right now.

It might be problems occurring with a new purchase. If you bought the game in 2009 or thereabouts, all that stuff was sorted when it was active and doesn’t apply. So all this nonsense might just be if for some reason you’ve decided to jump into the franchise 15 years late.
