This is the most nakedly desperate attempt at a gotcha I've seen from you.
How is that desperate? It took no effort, no commitment, and 6 seconds to type.

Ya'll unambiguously accuse me of lies all the time. If a question from me suggesting even that possibility comes off as desperate, imagine what you look like.

In another episode of "Every Accusation Is A Confession".

Aaron Craig Gleason, an anti-LGBTQ+ writer who has accused queer people of "grooming" children for sexual abuse, has been arrested and charged for molesting a child under the age of 12.

Gleason, a 39-year-old middle school teacher and soccer coach who has written for the anti-LGBTQ+ media outlets The Daily Wire, The Federalist, and The Imaginative Conservative, was arrested on January 28 by police officers in Okaloosa, Florida. He has been charged with the "lewd and lascivious molestation of a child under the age of 12 by a person over the age of 18" and was held in jail on a $75,000 bond.

The Daily Wire has already removed Gleason's author page from its website, but the Internet Archive has preserved the page. It reveals that he wrote two articles around 2022 about current Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The Daily Wire and its numerous contributors have long claimed that LGBTQ+ people and their allies are "indoctrinating" and "sexualizing" children through public school education and media.
My sympathies to his victim.

As of this week we finally got a federal government. Only took 239 days, which is honestly pretty disappointing.

Anyway, here comes the Arizona coalition made up of the right wing Flemish nationalist NV-A, the center-right liberal MR, the center-right catholic CD&V, the other center-right catholic Engagés and for some reason the social-democrat Vooruit. Could be worse, I guess. Could've included the fascists.

MR is not a surprise, N-VA is also very pro-business/wealthy. Neither is the two catholics, those have a long history of playing along with right wing nationalists so long as they get to stay at the big boy table. The sossen is a bit weirder, since they spent like the last 20 years opposing the nationalists. Guess it was a really good carrot.

Anyway, it's a right wing gov so policy will be slashing social services and pensions, limiting right to strike and protest, and so on, while increasing spending on police, defense, migration (including the formation of whole new department) and, while not specifically said, probably also tax breaks for the wealthy.

Trump wants his new Attorney General to "fully prosecute anti-Christian violence and vandalism in our society" and says that people "can't be happy without religion, without that belief".

Yeah, after I see all those news reports of churches burning, Christians being dragged out onto the streets and beaten, and... wait, no, none of that is happening. What this actually is, is an attempt to force Christianity onto all Americans through force of law.

I'm sure Tstorm is thrilled.

I mean, lots of Christian churches have been burned, a bunch of mass shootings have been at Christian churches, you post here... tons of crimes aimed at Christians.

Precisely What Edit in the '60 Minutes' Interview Is the President Freaking Out About?
Edited: “We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.”

Original: “Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of, many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region. And we’re not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.”

That’s it. That’s the controversial edit. 60 Minutes removed some filler — a meaningless sentence that did not change the substance of what aired whatsoever. They edited out a meandering preface: “Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of, many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region.”

And yet, the President — even today, even knowing exactly what was edited — has continued to call for CBS to lose its license, condemning the removal of that one sentence as the “biggest broadcasting SCANDAL in history.”

“CBS and 60 Minutes defrauded the public by doing something which has never, to this extent, been seen before. They 100% removed Kamala’s horrible, election-changing answers to questions and replaced them with completely different, and far better, answers taken from another part of the interview,” he wrote on Truth Social.

He doesn't really care about the edit.

This is chaff. It's just throwing out as much shit as possible to distract and disrupt everyone else.

If they're going to write an article like that and get the details wrong, it'd be better not to write it at all. They didn't just remove some filler. They aired it in two different ways, once in the ads for the interview and a second time when they aired the interview, and one had only the first half where the other had only the second half, creating the illusion that the same question was answered in two totally different ways.

And to her credit, I don't think that's a meaningless sentence. It's not super well phrased, but her whole answer to the question should have been something like "I know Netanyahu is listening because a lot of Israel's actions have changed in response to our requests. And because we know he's listening to us, that makes it even more important that we continue to insist that the war needs to end." With only the first half, her answer looks like "yeah, a bunch of this war is because we told him to." With only the second half, it looks like her answer is "we'll keep insisting even if he doesn't listen." You need the whole thing to make a semi-coherent answer to the question, and 60 minutes bungled the crap out of it.

"fully prosecute anti-Christian violence and vandalism in our society"
That's probably what, at most a dozen incidents nationwide in a year aside from the occasional bored schoolkids tearing something up? Seems like a waste of resources, thought we were supposed to be all about efficiency now?

"can't be happy without religion, without that belief".
*ugh* no. Maybe it's needed for your prosperity gospel ass to not hate yourself, and maybe it helps you keep support from the religious right, but fuck off.

I think it's no coincidence that you keep mentioning a dollar figure but not a material impact.
It's not coincidence-- it's because the USAID website, including its progress reports, have become inaccessie since about Monday.

Some figures are still available. 53 million people received direct food assistance in 2022, amounting to 1.8 million MT. On top of that there's hundreds of millions in local farm development in Sudan, Syria, Haiti, Gaza, Ghana, Zambia and elsewhere.

Over 25 million children under 5 receive emergency nutrition interventions on top of that.

~1 million people living with HIV received ongoing treatment including antiretrovirals in South Africa alone, and overall its ~20m people. Millions more receive treatments of other kinds across sub-saharan Africa for malaria and tuberculosis.

Over $2 billion has gone to disaster recovery programmes in Gaza since Nov 2023. Hundreds of millions have gone to disaster recovery in Sudan during the civil war.
