Can't believe I forgot to mention this way back!

I was in Japan a month back, and bought this Epiphone Les Paul standard 50s guitar. It was spring sale and I was drawn to this particular model.

One of my buddies called me an idiot, as not only are these models easy to get in US, but I was also supposed to get made-in-Japan knock-offs, like Tokai Les Paul.

I did try to get a refund for this, but the shop owner said it wasn't possible, since I bought it as a foreigner and in a tax-free transaction.

Kinda annoyed I spent around $569 USD for this and that I could've bough an authentic Japanese guitar, but hey, I'll live with it. Still a great-sounding guitar regardless, and I love the design

If it's any consolation, a 70s Tokai knockoff Les Paul, i.e. the kind everyone wanted cuz they were very close to the real thing while costing like a quarter, would've set you back a fair bit more than 569 usd, now that everyone is savvy on how desirable those are.

A few things.

Dock for the Wife’s laptop. It didn’t work but since it was only $14 I’m not too fussed.

DP cable for said dock, gonna just keep in a drawer, you never know

DVI to DP cable for said dock, gonna return that as not fit for purpose. I didn’t open it so it should be fine.

Monitor for my workshop station in the office.

EDIT: any manufacturer who sells a VESA mountable monitor without a set of screws should be pelted by rotten fruit in a town square.

I mean, I was on vacation thousands of miles away from my hometown. Why pick up something I can find in US, when I could be looking for something that are found in specific region?

Again, I am happy with the Gibson, but really wish I took a moment to think about what I was buying

If you like it then who cares if you could have gotten something "better?" Were you going to spend your entire vacation shopping trying to get the ideal bargain or are you happy that you saw something you liked and grabbed it?

Yeah, I've decided just to be happy with what I got. TBH, I feel there will always be people calling you out for "why would you spend money on that?" No matter how good the purchase seems to you.

Like I said, this guitar still sounds and looks amazing. And now I pretty much have all the guitar collection that I wanted in my life; A classic guitar, an acoustic, stratocaster, and now LP. Probably won't be getting another one unless one of them gets badly damaged or stolen

The main guitars of the few Japanese guitarists I know (from the bands Tokyo Incidents and Polkadot Stingray) don't use Japanese guitars anyway if that means anything.

It's a-Paul-ing that people would criticize you for this. I certainly don't think any Les of you.

not even remotely sorry

A couple of linen shirts from Uniqlo because it's starting to get pretty hot out and I want something breezy that isn't just tee-shirts.

A ticket to a Def Leppard concert that's rolling through town soon. I'm not a huge fan of the band, but I haven't been to a concert in a couple of decades and I really want to get out of the apartment and do something fun.
Honestly, you could do worse as gigs go.

Future-proofed my movie and TV server with an SAS expansion card, an externally powered E91267-203 supporting up to 20 devices. The HBA is a 9207-8i. It's somewhat old tech, purchased used. I have four hard drives (or three HDD and one SSD) connected directly to the HBA and the other four through the SAS to the HBA. Don't need the SAS yet, but now I know that I will not be limited by my next hard drive. I could connect up to 24 drives.

Motherboard and CPU are an Asus B350-F and Ryzen 5 2600X that I once used for gaming. Bought that Corsair RM1000x two weeks ago. Very overpowered for a NAS, but I like how many drives can be plugged directly with the Type 4 cables. The old PSU was sometimes not powering on a random drive anymore.

No RAID, no mirrors, nothing. I only make copies. Have a few external hard drives and naked drives that I connect with a docking station. I prefer the docking station method. Should have switched to it sooner.

I got the LEGO Jurassic Park T-rex fossil set.

And on the surface, it looks fucking badass

But it has a HUGE FLAW; It's not completely flexible. The only parts you can reposition are the tail and the little arms. I am going to say it; this is probably my first disappointment in a LEGO model. Because I was looking forward to do that badass t-rex pose at the end of the original movie.

Speaking of which, I am now in the mood to go watch Jurrasic Park for the nth time

Well if you do need a reason, June 15th marks the seventeenth anniversary of the passing of Stan Winston, the special effects maestro behind a great deal of the film’s visuals. A memorial showing is not a bad notion.

Sapphire Nitro+ 9070XT is now 800 dollars, not high above the MSRP of 730. Want that second HDMI. But wish I had a better reason. Almost exclusively old games these last few years, and I tend to be more critical of the few new ones I do play.

Ordered it. I just miss playing in front of the TV, without having to switch the HDMI cable. I miss not always sitting at my desk to play games. My Dell UltraSharp 40 uses the only HDMI.

I spent half an hour in the storage unit a mile away looking for the PCIe 5.0 600W cable for my 850W Be Quiet! Pure Power 12 M. Then I came home, searched the internet for cables and realized the 12VHPWR connector on my PSU is not proprietary and I can simply use the cable that came with the 1000W Corsair PSU that I bought a few weeks ago for my NAS. (Overpowered for a NAS, but offers so many SATA connections.)
