You've been a very naughty boy.No. It's only a start. I have blood on my hands for this shit.

I've lost all interest in videogames, but between Mao's Legacy and your stellar advertisement of this game, I may reconsider. This game is trash and is an insult to the Kulaks and all other victims of socialism and communism. I am garbage for even temporarily giving them money and I need to be punished.
I was thinking more a bullet to the head or thrown out of a helicopter with a noose around my neck, but we all give what we can, I guess. You've been a very naughty boy.
Okay, seriously, though. That is an overreaction.I was thinking more a bullet to the head or thrown out of a helicopter with a noose around my neck, but we all give what we can, I guess.
I can't tell if he's serious or not.Okay, seriously, though. That is an overreaction.
It is impressive, either way.I can't tell if he's serious or not.
This is either some next level self-immolation or next level irony, I CAN'T TELL ANYMORE
Speaking of which, did you play Disco Elysium? I kinda enjoyed that you could play as a communist and go around preaching the revolution to everyone if you chose. Given the main characters.....condition, it actually works pretty well.I mean, you asked for a ban. Im not sure why you came back to check on it. Especially since I'll just make another thread. Im actually excited to talk about a communist game.
Yeah but let's not talk about that or the fact that the Disco Elysium devs outright thanked Marx & Engels when they won an award, that would make people uncomfortable.Speaking of which, did you play Disco Eslyium, because you could play as a communist and go around preaching the revolution to everyone if you chose. For people who support mass murderers and genocidal regimes, no, it's not.Okay, seriously, though. That is an overreaction.
Man, you're cuh-ray-zee.For people who support mass murderers and genocidal regimes, no, it's not.
And as for the Disco Elysium devs, they should get the helicopter treatment too.
So you show your dislike for a mass murdering regime by calling for what another mass murdering regime did. The moral dissonance is astounding! For people who support mass murderers and genocidal regimes, no, it's not.

I mean, they got upset over someone thanking Marx & Engels, I forgot about how many billions they killed when Marx wrote Critique of the Gotha Programme and when Engels finished Anti-Duhring. I think on that Basis we can blame the English for mercantilism and consequently every death attributed to the exploitation of resources and accumulation of capital. So you show your dislike for a mass murdering regime by calling for what another mass murdering regime did. The moral dissonance is astounding!
There's something of a difference, though: this is a well-known stereotype and slur, used against that specific demographic for decades. That's the context.Yes, because it's just an old running gag that has been in one way or another in all the games. Sometimes its' the ugly teacher, sometimes it's the fat girl who won't share her curry when everyone else is starving.
Point is, there's always this scene at the beach where the guys are all bro-like and go on to pick up women only to fail miserably and then get hit on by someone they find completely unattractive, which illustrates in a smart way how they may have been making the people they were hitting on feel. It's not a joke at the expense of the gay folks, it's a joke at the expense of the player characters for thinking they're all that.
It wasn't changed in the other cases when the teacher was being a "pedophile", it wasn't even changed in original p5 (cause we're in a game that lets you date medical doctors in their late 20s as a second grade highschooler between the ages of 16 and 17), it was only changed here, which is identity politics, yes.
To not get that this is supposed to be the youthful fantasy of dating a hot older woman being turned on its head for laughs and try to imply that this in fact is some kind of homoerotic pedophilia moment is just utterly ignorant and is trying to use such an interpretation to justify censorious acts which in truth are occuring simply because some people don't like that being hit on by gay people when you're straight is depicted as being as off-putting as being hit on by an ugly teacher in her 40s or a really fat selfish biatch.
Sure, but the criticism when one does this is about them being cheesy or old fashioned or cliche. Not being homophobic or pro pedophilia or whatever other insane thing was leveled at them. There's something of a difference, though: this is a well-known stereotype and slur, used against that specific demographic for decades. That's the context.
The game makers have used a stereotype based on identity for a cheap joke. That's fair ground for criticism: if you choose to use stereotypes, you can be criticised for that choice.
Though you do end up fighting rich guys who turn office buildings onto mecha. so it's still a bit on the ridiculous side at times. The main difference is that, in Outer Worlds, you fight cartoonishly evil Corporate Cops with their wacky corporate speak and so on. It's a caricature.
In Tonight We Riot, they're just Cops. Regular ol' SWAT team in riot gear. Government and Corporation working together instead of one subsuming the other. It's not saying "this hyper capitalist corporation is bad", it's sayin "the whole damn capitalist system is fucked"
Heck, in the trailer all the good guys are either diverse groups of men and women or individual PoC and all the assholes are either cops or mostly white dudes and a single white lady. That alone would make the weirder nerds mad
The difference is that in Hatred, mass murder was the aim of the game. In GTA, it was something you COULD do, but it was never stated to be the aim in the same way. I'm not aware of any GTA mission where the goal is to simply kill as many people as possible in a given amount of time.So many people got upset that you do nothing but be a mass shooter. Yet no one seemed to bat an eye when you can do the same thing in GTA V. I used to think the same, but then I asked myself "Is this game that important to get upset over?"
They quoted Marx and Engels, that's not the same as supporting mass murderers. I'm not aware of anything in either of their works that call for stuff like the Gulag Archipelogo or the Great Leap Forward. For people who support mass murderers and genocidal regimes, no, it's not.
And as for the Disco Elysium devs, they should get the helicopter treatment too.
Actually there was one mission in GTA San Andraus that had the objective of "KILL ALL THE HAITIANS!!" and that ended up being changed to "gangsters" in later releases. In early GTA games there were also the massacre side missions where the objective was to just kill as many people as you could. The difference is that in Hatred, mass murder was the aim of the game. In GTA, it was something you COULD do, but it was never stated to be the aim in the same way. I'm not aware of any GTA mission where the goal is to simply kill as many people as possible in a given amount of time.
