Oh if we're bringing up Blob's comments

McDonalds > the Moon landing
Am I missing something everyone else seems to get? I don't get why McDonalds is such an aberration in that sentence.

He's talking about the former achievements of the USA, and brings up McDonalds as an example. And changing the fast food industry and reach a worldwide audience in doing so is an achievement. Granted McDonalds' impact on humanity is probably negative, but it remains an achievement.

It obviously pales in comparison to winning a major war or reaching a celestial body, but isn't that the point? "This is not the America that went to the moon or won WW2; it's not even the America that invented effing McDonalds.".

Perhaps a better criticism is that MovieBob shouldn't be looking down his nose at anyone because he didn't do any of those other things either. Including work at McDonald's, probably.

This is a fun site. Thank you.
I learned long ago Holocaust deniers fall into 3 camps: Trolls just trying to get a rise out of someone, Nazis who think the Holocaust was a failure because Jews still exist, and the mentally disturbed who do not comprehend reality.
I do personally know a Holocaust denier - a cousin. He also spent 3 years in a mental health ward, takes medication to help with hearing voices, and thinks its actually the year 3 million and a secret government cabal across all of history had conspired to hide both the real year and the real technology we have. Basically he thinks this is a 40k primitive world where there are space faring Space Marines hiding away watching up be primitives for their amusement. Not the Marine part, but that this world is part of a zoo like exhibit.
He also in convinced he's a world class chef, a pilot and served in Vietnam despite being 32. He's not there, and its sad, and just reading a handful of those comments I saw similar sentence structure and arguments about even being allowed to question.

Once you interact with someone who has a mental disorder for an extended period of time you recognize those ticks and quirks in a lot of people and it goes to explain a lot.

And some people are just morons and we shouldn't drag mental illness in the dirt by associating it with moronic tinfoil hat wearing neo-nazis. I get your point, but as someone who's spent the last decade in psychiatric care I also feel that mental illness often gets a bad rep as an excuse for pretty much anything people don't like or think is stupid. Yes, some people with psychotic symptoms will develop elaborate fantasy worlds caused by their illness but most will not and psychosis makes up for a very minor part of all mental illness. Mental illness alone is certainly not enough to explain why so many people go straight into Holocaust Hoax Truther territory, for that you need other models of explanation, models that holds up a mirror to society and shows some very unattractive features.
Absolutely true, but that's why I included both the trolls and the actual Nazis who think the Holocaust is a hoax because the Jews still exist. They're not Holocaust Deniers so much as Holocaust Re-Doers.
I mean there's a thread about the Proud Boys founder declaring he's tired of pretending he's not a Jew hating Nazi. I think a lot of Holocaust 'deniers' are just closeted Nazis.

So he's trying to gaslight everyone else by pretending they really were friends, and she misinterpreted her own opinion? Also notice all the addendums - not anything more, publicly implying private conversations, here on Twitter, implying outside of Twitter statements.
And isn't "I have no further statements" what you say when you're guilty? If he really was friends with Lindsay Ellis he could just post "Here's a picture of us hanging out after a movie" and "here we are chatting about Marvel movies" and post screen shots and all that jazz. People who are actually friends have a lot of evidence to support it.

I find that extremely creepy. Talk about he who fights monster becomes one. It's even more so now. He came another b#tch-in-a-boxstand.

I loss my sympathies for him all the way back in 2012. Yet he wonders why people hate him and is an acceptable punching bag on the Internet.

He'll get recognition alright! Not in the way we wants, so he will get what's coming to him.
I can see your fear, it surrounds you.

Because people, like you, call him a "a virulent white supremacist and holocaust denier"
he's also ridiculously homophobic. Like he doesn't even pretend not to be man. Straight up implying that gay people are only gay because they were molested. He pulls this shit all the time.

Hey, I found one about you!
Stonetoss has exactly three jokes:

Women and minorities are weird, stupid and probably evil.

Leftists and liberals are hypocrites, and probably evil

The Holocaust didn't happen, and if you think it did you're probably evil.

Yes, that "Burgers?" joke was pretty good, but it was also his only good joke.

Stonetoss is an adept cartoonist, but he clearly focuses on his favourite topics that - as seen here already - paint a pretty good picture about what he thinks about them. However what truly makes his work so virulent (for a lack of a better word) is how the mal-intent can be weaseled out of. "Only pointing out the most frequent myths about the holocaust", "only being critical of US-Israel relations", and about the one above "in one study they found a correlation". It's an open door down the unsavory path that online leftists are so worried about, and so they want to shut it even if the cartoons are alright at times. Personally I'm above all that. A higher being.

OT: Correct me if I'm wrong but Ellis could just hard-block Bob if she wanted to, right? I don't know Twitter's mechanics very well so maybe that would block her from seeing tweet chains with Bob in them that she finds relevant or something. Following someone's Twitter account isn't stalking in the slightest, but there must be more to the story with a whole 6 "soft-blocks" and whatever else we're missing.
