    Clearing up some common misconceptions.

Perhaps I should state this a little more clearly, the misconception I'm referring to is the amount of meat people in my immediate environment think they need to eat per day. I asked most of my friends and family, and their answers tended to range anywhere from 8 to 12 ounces per day. The...

What is your favorite Nintendo system of all time?

Gameboy SP. It actually took to heart the aspect of in-pocket portability that handheld systems have to offer. I find that modern portable systems are just a little to bulky to fit in a pants pocket. Granted, the DS lite could fit in a pocket, but it always felt a little flimsier than the SP, at...

    Clearing up some common misconceptions.

. . . isn't that technically your opinion? Anyway, when I said that they eat "too much", I meant in accordance to general health guidelines, not personal opinion. I'm not judging them for eating so much meat, I was just surprised by it, since I hadn't noticed it until recently. OT: Bats...

    Clearing up some common misconceptions.

Funny how you post on a thread about clearing up misconceptions without actually clearing up any misconceptions. I said what I said based on observations of my environment, and anything applying to other areas of the country was based on national averages found in studies. Granted, studies and...

    Clearing up some common misconceptions.

To clarify, I was defining "too much" by general national health guidelines, not by personal opinion or preference. Nor was I judging them, merely observing. Now please, you can be as snarky as you want, but at least make an effort to post something interesting, especially if you're going to...

ME3...What RPG Elements Got Cut Exactly?

Actually, I found that the "mean" dialogue options in ME3 aren't always so mean. When dealing with Shepard's friends, they tend to lean more towards being direct and getting down to business, rather than just generally being a dick.

    Clearing up some common misconceptions.

I agree, especially considering that most grain servings people get are processed, and not whole. And even with whole grains, someone still doesn't need 5 servings per day. In America's case, I don't think it's that they were too lazy to change the pyramid, rather it's all the lobbying done by...

    Clearing up some common misconceptions.

I don't know you IRL, nor am I an expert on the big bang theory or evolution, I agree with you on the gravity bit. If I recall correctly, the force of gravity on Earth is roughly 9.81 newtons. And as you said, it's rather easy to generate a force greater than that.

    Clearing up some common misconceptions.

Well it's nice to see that my first reply was at least a clever one :P While my assumption about all of America is potentially inaccurate, and based on nation-wide studies rather than direct observation, I can safely say that people around me eat too much meat. Seriously, you should see the...

    Clearing up some common misconceptions.

Hello fellow Escapists. As the title of this thread suggests, what are some common misconceptions that you would like to clear up? It can be about any topic, just as long as everyone here (Myself included, of course) learns a thing or two. I'll start. I know this one applies to other nations...

The South: Cut us some slack, people.

I feel your pain. I live in Iowa, and a rather alarming amount of people assume I'm a corn farmer or something along those lines when they first meet me. This wouldn't be too bad, if it weren't for two things; First off, I'm only 15, so I honestly doubt I'd be running a farm. Secondly, I don't...

Things everybody should know but for some reason, most don't.

You think that's bad? At my HS, I've seen gum spit into urinals. I seriously can't fathom any possible reason for someone leaving their gum in either place. OT: People at my HS also need to learn to FLUSH THE FUCKING TOILET!!!

Poll: Your opinion on meat products

I marked myself as "other" I don't make a conscious decision to be a vegetarian, but I rarely eat meat. I don't have a moral stance against it, I just enjoy the taste of other foods more.

What Games Should Stop Being Made?

Uncharted. I loved all the games, but I think it can end now. And while I think that 3 had better multiplayer than 2, 3's single player experience felt a tad bit poorer than 2's overall. But still, it was by no means a dud, so I could live with it if they made another one, though I don't see the...

    Your "FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU" Moments...

I feel your pain. It sucks extra hard when you realize you're getting owned by an enemy that Drake is just hallucinating. OT: Mine would be in WoW, when I've spent a lot of time traveling, and I forget to set my Hearthstone to a new town. And I, of course, have to be a jackass and use it...
