How about he gets flagellated? No one would commit a crime if punishment was flagellation.
as nice as it is to think that harsh punishments prevent crime, history has shown then dont not to mention what happens when you get someone who is innocent being punished

I love it when someone in the justice system comes up with unique punishments like this, they usually end up being more effective than traditional ways. I'm just glad it didn't turn into one of those "video games are corrupting kids" cases.

Serves the twat right.

People really need to give kids harsher punishments - it didn't help when smacking was banned.

Kids don't need harsher punishments, there needs to be stricter laws on who can have kids.

So the 'kid' has assaulted three people (quite violently), ignored numerous court rulings, and yet they let him out on bail?
Yes, what the hell! We should lynch him, fry the corpse and feed it to dogs!
/sarcasm for those with a malfunctioning sarcasm detector

He. Is. 12. Year. OLD.

This is just going to turn into yet another retarded capital punishment or age or whatever flamewar...

So... no comment.
The fact that he's a twelve year old is no excuse for the fact that he's attacked roughly a half a dozen people, one or two of whom were attacked with a pool cue. This kid needs help, and he needs help badly. Anyone that age should know the difference between right and wrong and that beating the shit out of someone in any way other than self defense, especially if it involves a weapon, is wrong and he should be punished for it.

Taking away his Wii isn't enough.

What he needs is a good ol' fashioned trip to a Juvenile penitentiary and some serious psychological counseling and anger management.

Aye, as long as it's not just a smack. Some incredibly stupid, almost as bad as the 'kids', decide to smack their child and scream and shout back.

If they'd just sit the child down and explain.. Then smack them everytime they start screaming again.

OT: Personally, I'd like to have that kid taken to a couple of psychiatry sessions to find out what his problem is. Bah tbh it sounds like he'll just grow up to be a useless twat, so charge him with capital punishment and lets be on our way.

..Oh, who would get the wii?

Either that kid has some pretty messed up inner demons, or in a perfect world his parents wouldn't possess a license to procreate. Either way, that is one nasty bully.
Sometimes it's not about bad parenting. We may not like it, but sometimes there are fucked up people for no reason at all.

Why the fuck isn't this kid locked up somewhere? If this is what he's like at 12 imagine what he'll probably be like as he gets older.
I agree. The last time I checked, weren't cases of assault (multiple counts in his case) considered felonies?

This sack of garbage needs to locked up for, oh how you say, more than just a single year.
However I must admit, what the judge is doing is a really good idea for getting into the mind of a twelve year old. Though I also say that his past felonies shouldn't simply be ignored, like his other case of vandalism, and I'm sure bringing those rocks to school should be considered as bringing a weapon as well.

You know the police just wanted to do this 'cause they wanted some new form of entertainment in the break room.

Under Canadian Law all offenders have the right to be granted reasonable bail. Even murderers. More accurately they have the right to apply for bail but if the crown (prosecution) proves that the aplicant is dangerous or may flee then they don't get it. Or they can just choose not to apply and save the whole hassle if they don't think they will win. More on topic, the Wii that they have taken from him will be used to make sure he shows up for his actual bail hearing. Oh, and that he doesn't do anything stupid.

Kids can be so stupid sometimes. They definitely need to learn their lesson of what they did was wrong at a young age, or by the time they get to be an adult, they'll be in and out of prison.

The parents, once again, should be locked in prison for allowing this to happen.

They didn't take away his Wii when he acted up the first three times, and now it's gotten so bad the court is doing it for them. They're just as much to blame.

Bad parents should be sterilized and not be allowed to breed to be honest.

Interesting but it seems limited in scope for a behavioral manipulation. I might be more impressed if you did this to an adult and had their IRA as bail.

How about giving the kid a slap round the head? that would be better.
Nah. That's a brief pain.
We need to hit him where it hurts:
His wallet.
...but he's 12. Like he'd have a good cash flow at that age.
