So I can pay $150 for a machine full of shovelware or buy quite a lot of games on Steam. Steam it is then.
This. For 150 bucks I'm set for the year gamewise... Since I'm not particularly rich I don't feel like "almost-literally" burning money is a sensible idea, so I'll pass.

I'm still waiting for the press release.
Call me crazy, but I'm holding out hope.

Oh well. If this is the price it will be, then I will have to wait to see what they do with it in less casual games. What I have seen so far isn't something that makes me want to buy it, seeing how I am still having fun with my Wii now and then.

But when games like Fable 3 and such starts to show what the Kinect can do, then I'll buy it if it looks good.

And the price isn't that bad, seeing how you will have to pay more for all the extra controllers and stuff if you want the most out of Move. The controllers on Wii are also expensive, and you need more of them to have multiplayer fun. So all in all, this isn't that bad a price, but I had hoped it was lower.

what about the english price? has that been confirmed at £200?
i wasnt planning on getting this anyway, but it might have turned out alright, if it wasnt so expensive
£200?!?!?! what, thats either someone lying to you or microsoft don't understand exchange rates.

Either way, far to expensive for people to buy. I don't want it for that price and I already have a 360, I'm going to laugh my head off if I know anyone who buys a 360 just for Kinect, poor waste of money.

Unless it comes bundled with a game, I don't see this on my buy list. Ever.

That cost me significantly less than the probably... let's say $250 would probably be a safe estimate, if the hardware alone is to cost $150. Unless it comes bundled with a bunch of games (and really, when have bundled games ever been worthwhile beyond a few minutes of sympathetic pity play) you'll have to get a couple to make the purchase worthwhile.

This is the most expensive "awkward wave across room" simulator ever.
On Amazon it looks like it won't be shipped with any game. Instead kinectimals and other games are tagged for full price (59.90$) (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_10?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=kinectimals&x=0&y=0&sprefix=kinectimal [http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_10?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=kinectimals&x=0&y=0&sprefix=kinectimal])

Geee.....

I thought normally the price would be lower, not higher for Britain. $150 now would be something like £100 to £125 pounds, thanks to the recession. But if it's been increased, then it's a con, which will prompt anyone with common sense to import.

.... Who was your maths teacher? $149 = £100 roughly. The price would in all probability be £99 here.

Quite expensive for a gimmick.
You said it brother. No chance I'll be buying one. If it's $150 US, chances are Australians will have to shell out roughly $250-300 AUD.

Anyone guess how much it should be in Australia? I don't know the currency conversion, and we seem to get everything at 150% of the American price, dagnammit.

The short answer to the question if it will be worth $150, no. The long answer: NO, because it's mainly a gimmick that the majority of games won't even use and is as bad of an idea as the Playstation Move or the Wii... well, the Wii could have been decent if it actually had decent games, but my point still stands.
Quoted for truth.... I totally agree..

Even though the US dollar is only a few center better off than the Aussie dollar I agree.

Just look at Civ 5. $50 USD on the US Steam site, $80 USD on the Australian Steam site. And no, that is not a typo, the Aussie Steam site lists all prices in USD.

Is it really $130 better than an EyeToy camera?
Yeah... I wonder also, cause Kinect to me seems like the EXACT same thing as EyeToy.. Only with better resolution on the camera..

And EyeToy was fun for like two hours..

That is... a lot of money.

I mean, is it viable as a family entertainment sort of accessory at that price? Because I guess that's what they're aiming at. I mean, how many families have a 360 as their "family console"? Will people be willing to pay $150 plus the cost of a 360 for something that is not that unique anymore...

And I guess when it comes to the gamers they are gonna demand some proper titles before they buy it.

It doesn't look like this is gonna float to me, but then again, I said the same thing about Guitar Hero, so I'm probably wrong.

My thoughts too. Of course, I don't have $150... Or a 360. But rest assured, if I did, I would be ignoring the Kinect with all my might.

Sold! I'm still buying it. I expected it to land at this price and I'm not quite sure what the people who expected to see it for $50 were smoking. There is a LOT of technology in that little box.

For 150 dollars they better ship it with a game that uses it, which they dont.

So far this adds nothing to my gaming experience and is thus worthless for me. I will go a step further and consider the Kinect as the most pointless/expensive inovation in gaming for this decade so far.
