despite that I find Kinect not appealing, I believe that the price migth be right, simply because to have 2 people playing with move you need two move controllers, plus the eye toy...

So I can pay $150 for a machine full of shovelware or buy quite a lot of games on Steam. Steam it is then.
Word.
I'm pretty sure I would run out of HDD space long before the $150 are used up...

Sorry, MS, this is a lousy deal. I don't own a 360, but I'll kill my brother if he actually buys one of these things

what about the english price? has that been confirmed at £200?
i wasnt planning on getting this anyway, but it might have turned out alright, if it wasnt so expensive
.... Who was your maths teacher? $149 = £100 roughly. The price would in all probability be £99 here.
NHS doesn't pay for itself (also generally politicians fucking everything up).

it's called taxes:

-unstable exchange rate and costs of transferring that money.
-import tax (extortionately high to apparently to encourage local development and manufacture (will not work))
-higher labour costs of distribution (thank you unions)
-We include sales tax in the retail price which is not included in advertised US price of Kinect* as the sales tax varies from state to state plus is usually quite low.
-Then of course Microsoft prices according to cost of living, if we are used to paying more for the same goods as in USA... then they will charge that much more for Kinect. Cost of living is MUCH higher in the UK than USA, even after adjusting for exchange rate and irrelevant to income, oh and we earn less than Americans.

(*to any Americans reading this, Sales Tax is called V.A.T. here, currently 17.5% by 2011 will go up to 20% tax on EVERYTHING sold!)

Of course, Microsoft could easily "eat" the taxes and extra costs to make it "fair" and it could sell in the UK for £99... or even as low as £79. But that depends how much of a loss Microsoft is willing to incur.

Though all things considered, Microsoft will only get as much selling this in UK if sold for £139 to £149.

Honestly it IS different than the Wii, it sounds like it's getting much more support from M$ as opposed to Sony's Eyetoy. While it is a gimmick, if they can get people the stomach the cost, then it'll be at least moderately successful. That said, it's obviously not aimed at my demographic, and I have compelling feeling to buy it. I'm skeptical of people who say "This is the most awesome thing ever! It will revolutionize how we play games on the Xb360!"

$150 ain't all that much, a little less than 3 full-priced games.

Last article I saw on price said £140 I think. But if it's going for $150 it might actually be priced at around £100 then

EDIT: also English price? I resent that statement! We Scots use the pound too

*Finally finishes laughing* OOoh your serious.

OK What did we learn from the PS3? If you start out being overpriced your fucking yourself. If the PS3 would have been less then 360(closer to the price of the wii) I think it would be twice as popular.

But then again you will have to buy the Kinect games which I'm guessing will be retail price. So getting the sensor and a game so you can actually use it is around 4 full-priced games worth.

I wouldn't say thats worth that big a price tag cosidering to use it you need to have a 360 anyway which goes for around the same price.

Well, $150 translated to about £101, so that's actually pretty reasonable considering the tech. I'll happily pay that if I can save up in time.

I'm not sure if you want me to aplogise, but even if you do, I don't see why. I'm just pointing out, that $150 would equal £100 to £125, NOT £200, as if we convert £200 to US dollars, it would be around $300. So Microsoft are asking British people to pay double price for a Wii knock-off with no controller. If thats Microsofts business plan, then it's a retarded one, more then likely, it's a little bit of rumor mongering to annoy British people.
sorry that was mainly to the guy who said

just seemed incredibly rude
i really should have specified, sorry
but anyway, i received quotes from three people saying instantly how i was mistaken, which annoyed me slightly
Don't sweat it. You were quoting a article. No offence tended, just a little ribbing.

I still maintain a £200 price range would be just ludicrous on ms's part. Though with this hiked up vat. I can now see it being there.

This. For 150 bucks I'm set for the year gamewise... Since I'm not particularly rich I don't feel like "almost-literally" burning money is a sensible idea, so I'll pass.
Indeed. In fact, burning money would be better off, because at least then you get heat if you live in a cold area.

£100? Well my interest in the device is all but extinguished. They'll have to show me something pretty amazing to get my attention again at that price.

It kinda balences out with the Move, Move is cheaper but you need to pay for more controllers and Natal only needs one Natal.

OT:I'm not surpriced it's that much, considering how successful the Wii was, if can attract that audience then they make alot of money.

Man do you guys EVER stop whining about this? It is a fair price for what it does. Remember it does MORE than games.

Here have some cheese with your "whine".
