They want to take 4chan down for an even more tenuous reason that for TPB?! lulz. TPB made some sort of sense as they always stated that they were anti-copyright or whatever and property was being infringed upon. But 4chan, besides being a frigging IMAGEBOARD is about user action, so they'd have to go after the users, which due to the anonymous nature of 4chan would be difficult, though judging the average /b/tard, you'd probably only have to ask for their names (the first one that isn't David Davidson would be real).

I'd hate to be on the receiving end of 4chan's fury right now though... imagine all the pictures that cannot be unseen that are turning up on their emails...

Anyone ever seen a group of krill on the discovery channel? The dolphins you see eating them have no trouble destroying one, but no matter how long they spend rushing back and forth through them at the end of the day there is still a group of krill going about its day. Trying to track down and prosecute enough of Anonymous to even have a noticeable effect would cost more than even IFPI can dream of laying hands on, especially given that they would have to go through legal channels since no self-respecting hacker is going to attack 4chan. This won't be a war because you can't kill the Anonymouses (am I saying that right? Anonymi?) and hands are tied by legal codes. If legality can't win the war on drugs where there are people standing in the street with crack in their pockets, it certainly won't win the war on the internet.

Also, for all those of you who imagine the destruction of 4chan to be a good thing or simply think that /b/ should be kept around to contain all the fucktards of the world, think of it a different way. Free speech can be unpleasant: I think /b/ proves that irrefutably. However, many people find The Escapist's version of free speech distasteful as well (cue Jack Thompson), I'm sure, and if the precedent is set it won't be good for anyone. The slippery slope is there, and I would rather not slide down into China if it's all the same to you.

There was a guy who made a thread logging his ventures into 4chan. He bad mouthed them, they got pissed, and they raided the forums.

Probably didn't help that people thought it was funny, but I didn't really think it was raid worthy. Plus I was disappointed I couldn't post in my precious forums.
