Best Buy Will Give You $100 To Pre-Order Games

If you're someone who enjoys pre-ordering games, then does Best Buy have a deal for you.

Is pre-ordering games part of your shopping regimen? Do you like getting free money? Then perhaps you should cruise over to Best Buy, where doing the former will net you some of the latter.

Best Buy has announced that if a) you're a Reward Zone member and b) you pre-order (and buy) five upcoming games, you'll get $100 in credit to use on whatever you want. There are fifteen eligible titles for the deal; here's the complete list of games:

If you're planning to pick up at least five of these titles, then going through Best Buy doesn't seem like the worst idea, especially since they're willing to throw a not-unsubstantial amount of money at you in order to get your business. However, if you're only planning to get one or two of these games, you might want to consider Amazon; most of these games have a pre-order deal in place there that will earn shoppers some bonus in-game goodies, as well as credit they can use towards more games.

Well, I'm not going to Best Buy to do it. I'm only looking at Skyrim and Arkham City.

Spend 300 dollars to get 100 dollars. Well, if you're planning on getting 5 games, it's not a horrible deal.

Id have to spend upwards of $250-300 to get $100 credit. Sounds absolutely great, but I cant remember the last time I had $250 to burn.

5 games, priced at $60 each = $300

300 - 100 = 200

Your still paying $200. Good if you buy 5 games I guess, but still, it'd make my wallet cry.

I wonder if Amazon wouldn't be the better option even if you did want five games from that list, they tend to have better prices for pre-orders and sometimes have a cash back system ontop of this.

Still it's nice to see Best Buy taking steps to be competitive, better to offer something like this than to not.

nice dear but the game list is a bit short...

If they gave you the ability to keep the credit so eventually when you hit 5 games you get $100 that would be worth it so they can keep doing this into the future.

Anyone think its funny that the link to the game go to amazon.com?

Eh...when you factor in the overall high cost, the limited list, and extraordinary tax, it's a steal. For them

Wait they're charging full price for modern warfare 3?

Technically I guess this means if you pre-order 5 games you get 2 free, but honestly? Only Skyrim interests me, unless Battlefield 3 can be completely anti-noob by removing all the arcadey movement glitches...I'm going to pass on it.

If I had the money to buy the 5 games I want from that list and I had a Best Buy near me, I would jump on that deal in a heartbeat.

And I'm planning on getting exactly five of those (Skyward Sword, Uncharted 3, Assassin's Creed: Revelation, Skyrim, and Arkham City). I wasn't planning on preordering Skyrim or Arkham City, but this may convince me.

Looking at this list, exactly five of them are on my must-own list (Zelda:SS, Arkham City, Uncharted 3, Skyrim, and AC:R) and i've had a hard time time justifying full price purchases lately, what with me trying to save money for school and getting my hours cut at work. I would definitely go for this deal, but the only thing that's putting me off is how close the release dates are to each other (dropping $180 for three games within two weeks is a bit much, even if i'll end up getting $60 back for them).

Huh. So spend roughly $300 to get an additional $100 that's only valid in their stores?

Pass.

Besides, Best Buy is a terrible retailer to shop at from a competitive pricing standpoint.

Only two of those games, in my option, are worth getting:

Skyrim

Battlefield 3

That's it. Others only when they hit bargain bins.

Just keep rubbing salt into the wound, America? $200 for 5 new games is pretty good and there are 4 on that list I'd get - but I've never seen a Best Buy in Australia and the math here would end up being $400.

Steam, it is!

That's a nice deal but the problem is actually have 300 dollars of discretionary income to drop all at once.

Amazon is a great recommendation. It almost always comes up when I am arguing in favor of pre-ordering games. Over the past two years of using Amazon for 90% of my pre-orders, I have received a total of 50 dollars in pre-ordering bonus credit, which eased the burden on my spending money and allowed me to get five games for my 360.

Well, I'm planning on picking up Zelda, Batman, and Ass Creed, but I'm not sure I want to buy another two games just to get Best Buy store credit.
