Well, I'm planning on picking up Zelda, Batman, and Ass Creed, but I'm not sure I want to buy another two games just to get Best Buy store credit.
If you did spend 120$ on those other 2 then you would only actually spend 20$ on two games, its not a bad deal
That's not how it works.
You need to pre-order 5 games, not 2 to get the bonus.
But if he is also going to pre-order the other 3 it would be like him spending the same money that he would without the discount plus 2 games for more 20$

I once got a DS game as a gift that I already bought and was able to give it to Wal-mart, without a receipt but still sealed and got credit worth the full price.

Couldn't I just preorder and buy five games, keep them sealed and turn them in to Wal-mart for credit? Sure I'm paying for the taxes on those titles, but the free $100 credit makes up for it.

1. pre-order games
2. receive 100$
3. cancel pre-order
4. ????
5. PROFIT!
unless I,m making a error somewhere you can use this for free money.
It says you have to pre-order and buy the games, so it doesnt work like that. Everyone on here seems to have completely skipped that part of the article.

So you're saying that if you were planning to buy those 5 games, you would buy them somewhere else and NOT get the $100? You are a financial whiz, good sir. Unless you can find a place that sells the games for under $40 new, Best Buy is going to be the cheapest option.
Surprisingly, a lot of places will sell them under $40 new. You just need to wait a year or so. These are a luxury item afterall, not a necessity. With a little time, they will all drop in price until they are somewhere more reasonable (typically $10 to $40) for a new copy.

Well, except Skyward Sword. Being a Nintendo Publication, it will never drop its debut price.

You can't return them, either. The offer will be cancelled if you return any of them and the credit will be given to you after the return window for the final game has expired.

... crap. I actually wanted to preorder some of those... the problem here is that I've already got some of these preordered at GameStop and I would end up having to preorder a game that I don't really want in order to get the $100 at a store I don't really shop at...

But either way, thanks for the heads up, I might actually consider doing this. $100 doesn't sound too bad to me, especially if I was going to get them anyway.

Skyrim and Revelations are the only games in this list I'd want, though being a RZ member and frequent shopper, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get on top of that.

I see three titles that'd make me consider doing this (four if I had a Wii).

Still, great incentive. I applaud, Best Buy.

Id have to spend upwards of $250-300 to get $100 credit. Sounds absolutely great, but I cant remember the last time I had $250 to burn.
This is standard operating procedure for them.

If you ever think you're getting a good deal, re-evaluate the situation, because I can almost guarantee that Best Buy is screwing you one way or another. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't actually receive the $100 until after the return/exchange period on the games expires. That's the Best Buy I expect.

They prey upon the ignorant consumer who only sees the "FREE $100!" part.

Their business model is so heavily filled with asterisks and fine print that it's amazing anyone still trusts them.

I was really hoping they'd be one of the stores to die out during the bad economy.

and while I want maybe up to 5 of these games, only a few are full price for me.
*double checks*
okay four I'm interested in, but only Gears of War 3 will be a full price purchase for me

I'm actually planning on getting 8 of them. Just not all pre-ordered and at once.

And I'm planning on getting exactly four of those (Skyward Sword, Uncharted 3, Assassin's Creed: Revelation, Skyrim, and Arkham City). I wasn't planning on preordering Skyrim or Arkham City, but this may convince me.
That's how they get ya!

OT: not my idea of a good deal.

True, but I'd only be getting store credit, so I'd still feel like I lost a hundred bucks. I can't really go to Best Buy to go grocery shopping after all.

Couldn't you just turn them in, unopened, for the full value worth in store credit at another store like Wal-Mart? I believe they don't require a receipt, as long as the game is sealed they'll give you the retail price for it. Of course, there might be a limit on the number of items you can turn it; it might look suspicious if you try to return five games at once that you just happen to get as duplicate presents or something.

Hmm...well I want Arkham City, Skyward Sword, Assassin's Creed, and Skyrim. May as well pick something else out and get an extra $40...plus whatever I get for selling the fifth game to gamestop on the way home.
